Reliability? Performance? Maintenance?

I'm told a few things that contradict.
1. The 'open burner' is oh-so awful to clean? True? False? I've also heard that open burners are no big deal, but are incredibly efficient & *great* for wok cooking
2. BlueStar as some problems with knobs, expanding gas lines & bodies? Has anyone experienced this? Is this one of the duds or one of their classically great models?
3. Reliability: I've heard both that they are amazing, & that they're just like a glitchy Jaguar of the kitchen...

Input? Thoughts? TIA!

I'm not sure about this brand, but I can tell you that my mom's Thermador gas oven never worked. A total waste of money. Now it smells of gas when she tries to use it. Avoid at all cost.
