I don't know - I feel like the room is going to tip over to the left. The space by the fireplace hasn't been finished yet. There are cabinets underneath and will be a bookcase on the left hand side and possibly mirror on the right. Thank you for your comment.

Its great! I think the problem is how it "sticks out like a sore thumb". How about a more contemporary chair across from it? Its like your room is has a split personality. The left is not relating to the right at all. The sectional works just fine.

You're right - it does have a split personality which is probably why I get so perplexed looking at it. I still get the feeling the chair should be as big as the ball chair. But I will definitely move the plantation chair out and try something else. Thank you very much

Yes! Brenda has got it! If the GCs live it (excellent taste, BTW) keep it and enjoy their enthusiasm for it! Interior design doesn't have to be perfect.

I like the ball chair where it is. It balances the heaviness of the sectional nicely. I do agree that another chair is not needed for design but if one is needed for functionality then I would go for something like this one in burgundy MCM style. It will relate nicely to the ball chair while not alienating your sectional. I'd also consider removing your current floor lamp in favor of an arch lamp.
