I would choose the cream if a compatible trim color could be found. In this photo, I think the trim color is a little too white. If finding a trim color is difficult, I think the white would be easy to work with and a classic choice. Do they have the option of glazing? That seems to make the color difference between trim and cabinetry look intentional.

hi this is freads mom for rowen and autum you have a tough choice white or cream, cool or warm,what are the colours of your area rug,if you lean towards autumn haha colours reds greens golds then the cream is great however in my experience a whole wall of cream cabinets particullarly builders will scream YELLOW,white is always a good choice as long as you mix textures,like backsplash that have a hint of white in it..also grey subway tiles are beautiful,but more importantly if your favorite colour is the thermsfoil DO NOT hesitate,they have come a long way and most carry a manufactures waranty longer then wood,and builders grade wood is not solid it is a thin vaneer so it shows wear and tear like anything else,and if you have children thermafoil is amazing and does not crack warp or chip...easiest to clean..good luck..ps i would go with the colour and stone i love..if its thermafoil oh well at least i wont hate the colour.....as far as thermafoil peeling,if you leave a wet rag on the floor of an mdf cabinet it will lift so use your noodle and pull the kettle away from undercabinet..i would do that in a wood kitchen too,,just makes scense

the white cabinets and then maybe far right as island and tie counter in with both colours and backsplash..if you chooses not to go with subway ..go with natural polished stone backspash and maybe upgrade to quartz on counter because it is durable and softer to look at.,if your brave do uppers in white and base in far right..betcha no-one else on the block has,,,because it takes guts..but it looks custom

I think it really depends on the light in the kitchen. If you get lots of light as you would if the kitchen faces south, you could go off white. If the room is a little dark, I would go with white.

I agree with what Mary Poulos (see comments above) that some "whites" are actually slightly off white. Put a white paint sample up to the cabinet and you will see if the "white" is actually slightly off white. I love the colour of the kitchen that Mary posted.

Have you ever considered NOT putting in a tiled backsplash. Paint theses days is easily cleaned and allows easier and cheaper changes. I have had no backsplash tile in my kitchen for 4 years and I love it.

the white cabinets with the ash quartz can be warmed up while still looking modern with a warm grey beige paint like benjamin moore revere pewter..which also looks good with almost any hardwoodchoice

i agree with shera sometimes no backsplash is good but if your paying for undermount lighting it reflects a gorgeous tile..thats there job..as well as giving light

The white with the white ash counter. If you have some gray in the floor can you do a gray island instead of chocolate?

How bright is your kitchen going to be? Lots of sunlight etc? If not, I'd go for as light cabinets as possible.

Off white does not necessarily mean it has to go yellow. For example if their is a touch of burnt umber, then the color goes subtley off white, or with a faint touch of gray. These colors can go very well with stone. Granites often have some of these types of whites veining through. In the kitchen I posted above, the white was chosen from the stone, or at least strongly influenced. So find the off white that suits you, and also, importantly shows off the rest of surfaces to their best. A very white white, can actually have a blueness to it, which can make a kitchen cold.

Hi Curleycook, yes I agree, I think the problem too with the picture you posted is that the crown above and attached to the cabinet should have been painted to match the cabinets, and then the crown that went around the ceiling where there were not cabinets could have been white, I suppose. But in the case of this picture I agree the white is too white

Hi! Just to share: I had my heart set on a kitchen with ivory cabinets. (Inspiration photo below.) Because of budget reasons, I decided to go with non-custom cabinetry, as I suspect you are doing. I thought the bright white (a shaker that looked like yours) was too stark and cheap looking. The other choice was a cream that looked like yours (except it was glazed). I thought that would be dingy looking. Alas, no ivory in that collection. So I went with espresso instead. Looks dreamy against the white granite I picked out. I'll have white walls and an ivory backsplash. (Kitchen not yet installed.)

My point is, sometimes it's better to go a different way than to force a pre-conceived notion. I said to myself, if I can't do white—well, ivory—right, I won't do it at all.

My kitchen is pearl-white (see the difference with dish-washer and fridge) with black handles and black granite countertop. Backsplash tiles are beige but fit great. Vote for white

Number Three, hands down. When you mentioned schoolhouse lighting, black handles, subway tile, number three (both the door style and color ) are the way to go!

It's funny everyone refers to it as olive or sage green, and I think of it as taupe. It's all the same, I suppose…but I like to think of it as more warm grey, than green. I'm struggling with the white / off-white decision as well…and have decided for myself that as lovely as cream is, it won't work for me…so now am leaning towards warm grey! The kitchen is the heart of the home, so it's a B-I-G decision, isn't it? *sigh*

Yes it is tricky. I hope with all the ideas listed here you find some inspiration :-) I picked cream because I just found the true white too harsh. I guess I have 9 months to wait and see if I made the right choice. Although anything is better than what I had before so I can only go up. Lol I will post for sure next Sept. Good luck.

You need to see how it looks with your countertops. The cream may look yellow with countertops. I almost made that mistake.

Cream cabinets are always better than white, pure white stains easier, limits your choices of color. Cream all the way can't go wrong.

I like either color if you go w subway tile which is usually white go w the white cabinets. Depending on the size of the room the cabinets don't all have to be the same color also be careful of the lighting don't go with the expected I don't envy your decisions it's tough. We just had our oak floors refinished and now I'm onto rugs it never ends have fun

I feel your pain with limited choices GO WITH THE WHITE!!!! It will be clean and fresh and new and timeless and leave you All the opportunities in the world to add any color or style of hardware and over all kitchen accents for design and if you ever want to change your design they can easily be updated and adapt to an entire new style!!!!!!!

Curious how you like your cabinet selection now that you're (hopefully) living with it now?

We're trying to decide on a shade-of-white color as well and our choices seem to be bright white, darker creamy white/cream, and a grey white. There was also a very dark cream color which had a lot of green in it but that one's off the table. I'm finding that in various lighting I prefer different ones!

Hello, my favorite whites for cabinets are b.m OXFORD WHITE which is a cool chalky white..looks great with all colours and a warmer deeper white is DOVE WHITE looks great with wood islands hardwood ect, hope this helps

whats nice about these colours you can paint all trim doors and ceiling with either choice for a cohesive look.

Can you post the finished kitchen? I am going to be purchasing a home in the near future and I also can't decide between white and cream. In my home now I have maple cabinets that I love...I've had them for 16 years and I have always said my next house will have white but I am second guessing myself and doing research on the internet :) for which I like better. Reading all the above comments was very helpful. Were you happy with your choice???
