I like it, to add some colour, think about a 1-1" glass tile vertically to break it up - think what your accent colours are and try to incorporate in the glass. Keep it simple though.

I think a creamy light color is the way to go here; you could go with a darker color in the granite, but to me there wouldn't be enough contrast with the cabinets. I'd avoid veining/mottling and go with glass or porcelain. You have a lot of counter space and it has enough movement.

Your granite counters have nice warm colors and the pattern is on the busier side. For this reason, I feel if you choose simple off white subway tiles, in matte or glossy, will be a good choice for your kitchen backsplash. The key is choosing something simple.

As others have mentioned, a plain off-white glass subway tile would look nice & not compete with your granite:

I don't think natural tumbled stone would look bad either hung diagonally....

Your granite is a strong feature: be careful with small mosaics or busy patterns. I suggest a bone/off white travertine tile with simple crisp cut square edges, and installed with minimum grout lines. For some interest, you could go with a mix of sizes, but keep it visually low key.

In cream rather than white as there appears to be no other white in the room....

I would go with a soft creamy sand eg.

I have similar stone if not the exact same. We just put up subway tiles. Ivory & crackled & not too glossy. Love it!

Keep it simple. Tumbled travertine, or a cream subway.

Cream-colored (to match the ground color in your stone) subway tile but in 2" x 8" inch instead of 3" x 6" for a more modern feel...

I would recommend a simple tile matched to the lightest color in the granite, with a square over the stove matching the darker brown in the granite.

How about a pop of color? Blue would look nice. If you google "blue back splash" You will see some great ideas for kitchens with cabinets similar to yours. Earth tones would be nice but I think it would look too much of the same...

Rah60. I have used the subway travertine in my powder room with a glass mosaic tile. Perhaps the combo similar to my attachment but perhaps a slightly darker/warmer subway tile. I definitly wouldn't go white with all your warm tones.

We have a similar stone as well. Attaching a photo of what we did. I asked for a grout color that was tan and would blend in better, but somehow wires got crossed and he put in the light color. I wanted a natural look and a little bit of interest that picked up the colors in the tile, but was trying to keep it simple because there is so much movement in the tile. We've been very happy with it (would be happier if the grout were just a little darker).

Do they still make your floor tile and does it come in a smaller backsplash size?

one thing I have learned about back splash, out of my own experience, is not to have any tiled pattern as the grime gets between the grouting. So I prepare big slabs like that of a granite or even mable where you dont leave a wide gap between the tiles.

For cleaning purposes I would recommend SS backsplash over the stove up to the hood and the rest on a white subway tile, make sure you seal the grout

I have a similar colour bench top and I have cream 10 x 10cm cream ceramic tile with a darker grout.. The grid style pattern of the square tile keeps the look modern but not overpowering.

I am leaning towards cream subway tiles as it seems to work with my colours and most of you suggested it.I would prefer something to give me more WOW factor with my traditional kitchen but hopefully with nice light fixtures and tiles it will look much better. Any light fixture suggestions are welcome . I do have one pendant light over my sink island that is overlooking family room and another light in dinette area so not sure if I should keep same neutral or do I go with something different. Thank you All again!

If you do subway tiles I would stack them, then break up all that beige with an insert of something more interesting. You could tie the color of the insert tiles to a new light fixture. I also like the idea of painting your island cream.

Am chiming in again as I do understand how stressful it can be to select something as permanent as backsplash. It took me months because I have so many colors going on in my kitchen. If I had a white kitchen, finding a tile would have been a no brainer. But as luck would have it, I have lots of colors going on. The backsplash needed to be as simple as possible. So with all the colors, I chose the ivory crackled subway tile route, Recess lighting and four glass pendants. One over the sink (fatter and shorter) and three over the island that are taller and skinnier. The lights came from West Elm at a great price. I'm going to try to attach another photo but the colors may not come out as well as I hoped. Good luck!

If you do go with the subway tile (cream) I would recommend a grout color that picks up some of the brown from the granite. It will define the tile and show less dirt. Make sure to seal it, too, after applying the grout (wait a day, I think, before applying.) Also, it is nice if the backsplash goes all the way down to the counter, instead of to that strip that is usually applied above the counter surface vertically. I just did this in my kitchen; I removed the strip, filled the holes and sanded. Also, if you're doing this yourself, I recommend using SimpleMat, a tile-setting mat, instead of thin-set. It's basically a double-stick mat; no mess!!

You know the old advice about taking off one piece of jewelry before you leave the house because less is more? Your kitchen is gorgeous with the pattern of the wood cabinets and granite. Adding much more pattern is like deciding a diamond necklace needs some pop beads and sequins to give it just a little extra punch.

3x6 subway doesn't sound bad but a nice quality slate would look great.

something neutral would look great, subway tile would work in a cream.

Have you considered using the same granite on the wall and over the vent? It is the first thing people compliment when they see our kitchen remodel. We used a 3 cm, and it's beautiful. Perhaps you could find a piece with interesting markings for over the vent.

First we would like to say Santa Cecilia is a beautiful choice! We love that color. Our kitchen designer recommends using Florida tile, Gold Summit 6 x 6 tiles laid on a diagonal with Dark Rock 6 x 6 tiles as "spotters" in between. Both tiles are from the Taconic Slate series. We don't have a photo of the actual design but I can give you an idea of the colors, which we think will make your kitchen even more beautiful!
