I like the pattern of the brown rug but it's too dark for the space I would go with something lighter and pop of color for accessories

I also like the pattern on the floor but think it's all so dark. There's no table lamps and that might be why. If you keep this rug, I suggest getting some gray up onto the couches in pillows or a throw. Also, I might consider lighter tables if you keep this one; these are kind of lost. (Maybe paint them?)

When you look at the pic for the first time, your eyes are naturally going to the rug because of the pattern, and the cream pillows because it's light in a mass of dark. Lighten it up some; is that rug available opposite as it is so that the majority is cream and the lines are gray? That might help.

Thanks so much for the input! Definitely agree that it is too dark and the tables get lost, so I'll be returning the rug and on the hunt for something lighter.

Rug is too big. It's only use is to define area, and bring in color . You are right not right color for sofa. Go a cream background,with, a pattern in a contemporary design. Or a tan and white cow hide. Ikea carries good price. In fact ck out Ikea, they have good price. I would go bold color and print. 5x7 may be all you need or a 6x9. Do not put under sofa. Just want to cover area right in front, center rug. So wood is showing all the way around.

Can you push sofa back? Everything looks like it's all in one small area. Show whole room so we can see scale.
