This is "meadow" planting of low water use native plants that are on the "okay to use in high fire risk areas" list. The site sits in Coast Sage Scrub plant community; seed selection was tailored to our site. Go to the website for S and S Seed (Carpinteria, CA) and use their excellent plant catalog; there are also very knowledgeable people on staff that can help you create the right mix for your site, soil, exposure, etc. I see the following in the photo: Tidy Tips, a variety of Lupine, Farewell-to-Spring, California Poppy. I don't recall the grasses off the top of my head, but one of my criteria for selection was that everything in the mix needed to occur naturally in the adjacent wild land so that I wasn't introducing anything that wasn't already present in the existing ecosystem.
