My mail slot lets in frigid air and turns my vestibule into a huge heat loss, any solutions?

Hi. We live in Montreal and it gets really freezing here. We have a special mail slot that does not allow the air in.

I'm sorry but I don't know what it's called or where to get it (our door guy installed it.) I've enclosed a few pictures.

The premise of the mail slot is that it has a very tight door, that has a rounded, arc profile. It's an automatic close so the postman has to use 2 hands to get the mail in : one to open the slot and the other to put the mail in. It snaps closed (not dangerous) immediately.

The mail slot itself can get frosty on the inside when the temperature is really low, like today, but it does not let the air in. Good luck.

Is the mail slot a necessity? In my home, there's a layered entry so that even if anteroom gets cold, you warm up as you move towards the interior. And, yes, there is a mail slot :)

Do you have a metal flap on both sides of the mail slot? I added one to my inside as well as my outside and it made a huge difference.

reggiesmall, are you able to find out the manufacturer of your mail slot? I know you said it was installed by a contractor. is it the draft dodger insulated mail slot? yours looks better than anything they're showing on their website. would really like to get the same as yours for my house. i would even contact your door guy.
