Emimat, The table is the Willow bedside table from PB. It is 34" diameter, so would just fit in that corner.

The rug is an indoor/outdoor hooked rug from Shades Of Light. I think I sang the virtues of indoor/outdoor rugs in entryways a ways back on this thread. They are the cat's meow!

I lovelovelove that blue rug from PB. Yes, where to put it? I can see you doing up your LR in caramels, taupes and indigo. Not sure if you would want to lay it over your wall-to-wall carpet, but people do that just so you know. Somewhere back there (or probably on DR thread?) I posted some indigo and white block print paisley curtains from PB. To me, this rug and those curtains are a match made in heaven. PB definitely makes it easy to coordinate a look, as do all the other big guns.

So, truth be told, I'm not getting much done these days. I discovered Houzz last June, shortly after I got my iPad, and I have been hooked ever since. It's a real creative outlet for me. We have just gone through a big move from another province, and it wasn't without its stresses, so I seem to be in a holding pattern at the moment - just looking to rest and keep my mind off things.

But now I MUST go do something. If I keep sitting around like this, I will be in a walker in about 10 years LOL!

Oh, and about coat trees - well, you know the first place I'd look! I don't have any on my Pinterest boards at the moment. I guess you're my first request for a coat tree!

For something different though, maybe check out Anthropologie. I'm not sure if they carry coat trees, but if they do, it will most surely be something quite unusual!

Hi emimat, I found this interesting wall-mounted coat rack from Grandin Road. It looks a little more decorative than your standard hook and shelf. If it is on,y being used when you have guests, it would make for nice sculpture when it is empty.

The idea that kathyjoco made is something I did with mine. I chose a different film, but I really like the fact I don't need curtains.

Got my film at Lowes & it was super duper easy & it's not sticky like a contact paper. If anything, it's a cheap solution until you find something you really like. Each roll is about $20

Karemore: yes, the indigo rug is quite beautiful. All of our family traffic goes through the mudroom and only a few guests come from the front door. But I should probably pick an indoor/outdoor rug for the front door since it's much easier, I gather. Maybe I could get a runner version and put it in the hallway from mudroom to entryway. I could layer in LR but I'm not sure I can pull it off. :) If it were indoor/outdoor I would put it in the entryway. :)

Ahaha, the bathroom......no. Still don't have the energy to tackle it! However, we might start as early as next month. I have known for quite awhile how I want it to look, so it's just a matter of biting the bullet and giving up our bathroom for awhile. My husband likes to do as much of the labor as he can himself, which drags it out even longer!

If you really love the indigo rug, you could put the 5X7 version in the front hallway. Since you don't get a lot of traffic there - and it's a darker color anyway - it would be a practical choice.

It would probably make that front hallway color that you are so-so about a little more interesting.

I think you might be better off with the lighter blue indoor/outdoor rug (or similar) if you want a bit of elegance. The indigo rug maybe looks a bit too much like blue jeans? So, not so much an elegant vibe - more of an earthy vibe, I'd say. In a living room, you could probably get the elegant spin going because you have more pieces to work with.

I can see that! I saw actual denim pillows at PB that were actually blue jean material -- I thought they were perhaps the least beautiful pb item I've seen. So yes, let's not have blue jeans!!!

Hi emimat, I just remembered another beautiful rug from Pottery Barn. This is the Lizzie rug in Twilight. Now this could work in your entryway.

We painted our door on the inside and it looks great!

Couldn't resist doing another mock-up. I added in a pic I came across on art.com. It seems so perfect for your front hallway. That back wall would look nicely layered with the round table, a lamp and a pic peeking out from behind the lamp (mostly showing)!

in the fourth photo, I would put a simple rectangular shaped table against the wall with a phone, lamp, and pictures on it. I would have that be an area to drop my keys, write down any notes or messages.

Hi emimat, Just when I thought you couldn't buy cute wall hooks, I came across a beautiful Birds On A Branch coat hook on One Kings Lane. Unfortunately, the sales event has ended, but I searched up a few more and came across these. There are a lot more out there, I'm sure, so if you like the idea maybe poke around and see what you can find. They certainly read more as wall art than coat hooks!

The last one is the One Kings Lane coat hook that is no longer available - just so you can see what inspired me.

A colorful, beautiful rug that catches the eye & brings a we're home "warmth" feeling to the entryway, to begin with & a beautiful chandelier to light up the entryway with elegance would be a great start! @emimat - lots of ideas here. Have you chosen a direction yet? Sticky back Lowe's fake Victorian-window film? Green painted inside door? Bird hooks? MC Eshcer rug? Is "The Second Coming or the End Near?"

Let's say things are still conceptual. Getting ideas. I love the mock up by Karemore. I get sidetracked. Like last night I was pouring over patio furniture. And I had thought I wanted to get DR organized first but then I think I should do LR first. How do you all bear this indecision.

I had the floor plan in my hands and head for a month before I could move a stick of furniture! The movers were amazed at how easy the move was because I'd color coded furniture, boxes, etc..and had a floor plan for each room in plain site! A little OCD. I still love it! Good luck.

emimat, I do one room at a time. Focus. Otherwise, I'm all over the place.

It need more contrast to it .maybe some tile work instead of the hardwood floor would give the room more light . try some travertine ( natural stone) that entry way would look nice with a 16×16 45 layout and a border of 8 .or u could go for a more modern look try some 12 × 24 on an offset pattern.

Hi emimat, kmkane has great advice here. It is so gratifying to be able to have a room completely finished. Even if it takes years to get the whole house done, you can at least focus on just one room at a time and take baby steps.

Having said that, I am a big picture person, so I need to have a vision for the whole house before I make choices for individual rooms. So, I sense you are still gathering ideas and data, and putting it together in your head before you proceed.

And we all get that you are a busy young mom with a career!

I think your DR and entryway, compared to other spaces, will be the easiest to finish. But it doesn't hurt to get ideas for the LR first so you have that "big picture" in your head!

Hi emimat, By "parallel to stairs" , do you mean in the spot where you are considering the round table? Or do you mean in the spot where you are considering putting a bench?

It is a beautiful piece, for sure. I would say that if you were to do that rustic bench by the door, then this table would be a little too similar to it to have in the same area.

If you do mean that this table could be used instead of a round table, then maybe an upholstered bench by the door is the way to go?

Hi Karemore! That's a very good point. Two rustic pieces= too rustic! I can see that. I think I'm better off with a round table. I was thinking of putting it against wall with stairs.... But I love the entryway bench much more!

(I know you're busy but if you have a chance, peek at the last pics in FR thread. Is sectional lamp ok?? I rotated it and would love your opinion of how you think it works for space.)
