I BEGIN AT THE ENTRANCE TO THE ROOM AS #1, THEN PLACE THE FURNITURE WHERE IT SHOWS OFF A PAINTING, A WALL OF PAINTINGS, A MURIAL? WHATEVER I DO, I CHANGE THINGS TO ACCOMMODATE NEW PURCHASES AND NEW VIEWS. IT IS AN ONGOING PROCESS. IT IS YOUR VERY OWN DOMAIN. USE COMFY FURNITURE, AND PLACEMENT WHICH WORKS. AND DON'T EVER GIVE IN TO SOMEONE WHO REFUSES TO PUT HOLES IN THE WALL.. WALLS ARE MADE FOR HOLES, THEY CAN ALSO DISAPPEAR WHEN YOU HAVE THE RIGHT ARRANGEMENT WITH SPAKLE AND EVEN THE SAME PAINT. THE WALLS CAN SHOW OFF YOUR FURNITURE, YOUR VIEW AND THOSE OF HIS GUESTS. THE FIRST TIME YOU HAVE GUESTS, SIT FOR A TIME AND LOOK AROUND AT HOW EASILY THEY MOVE AROUND, AND WHAT YOU FIND IS GOOD AND WHAT IS NOT.

First off..........love the area rug!! You've created a very nice space......warm, inviting colors. Just a few comments.......the piece over the sofa feels a bit under scale and perhaps hung too high. Cocktail ottoman is very practical and looks good. The bench feels a bit awkward to me......I would have maybe done two separate small bench seats similar to what I show below. The don't create a barrier. Possibly introduce some art glass pieces to add a bit more color. A couple of great sources for accessories GLOBAL VIEWS and CYAN DESIGN.

hello joycealaina. thank you for your comments. yes i have some trees outside, but not the kind of landscape you want to see. there is gazebo and above ground pool :( not good view. thank you so much for taking the time to write. i appreciate it and agree with you.

That mantle art is amazing! Use that color as your accent color. Think how pretty pillows in that color would be and maybe a few candles in that color on the tray on your ottoman and maybe even a throw for the bench. I would take down the vase with reeds as it is competing with the art since it is the same height. Move the greens in the vases on each side a little closer together and clear off everything else.......too much, especially with stockings there now, too.

Where should i put the glass pcs? if i can find some? also the artwork is old and bench was only bought for my son and friends to play games. This room is actually both living and media room and i have too many people coming and going. i just wanted to tweak and make it bit more contemproary .

hello abbyjean. thank you again for reply. stockings with the holders and temporary and had them for ages. they need to change next year:) but you are right the tall reeds need to go. how about the silver vases? should i take them down too? also I totally agree with orange color throw, pillows and perhaps candles too.

Yes, I would take all you feel comfortable taking off the mantle. Too often it is tempting to just keep lining things up on it since there is room. You have lots in your room......and how lucky you are to have such a nice big room.....so keep this part of it clear and uncluttered.

A few on the end tables would look nice. You really only need the one end table in between the two chairs........if you could relocate the bookcase then the end table would look good on each side of the sofa with a small "drink" table between the 2 chairs or a combination drink table floor lamp.

Charette Design… thank you so much. table with lamb idea is very interesting. and your small round table is cool looking. where can i get these? also, the end tables i have i know for fact i have to rid of one, but i have not just yet set down to decide as to how to clear up.
