What is your style? You could go in a lot of different directions with a red countertop. Here's one inspiration for you

Although it sounds "sexy" I would steer away from Red. It will dominate the kitchen and for your size probably be over bearing. You don't mention if you would use tile or a red Marble such as Rojo Alicante. If using marbles, just be aware depending upon the origin, etching which would be very visible may be a challenge. I would test any red marbles prior to commitment. If you are thinking of tile, also be aware of the origin. Many red colors used to require lead in their production. If coming from the US, I would not worry but if it is coming from a foreign country, such as China, I would want to make sure of the quality and base materials used to obtain the color.

The countertops have not been updated since I moved in 34 years ago... I do not plan to sell, but keeping the home in the family.
Red is my favorite color, I won't get tired.. Others may.

With whatever I do with my house I am always aware it is a major investment. I would not pick red because if I had to put my house up for sale it would turn off potential buyers. I would put it in accents or paint, something you can easily change.

Quartz from Ceasarstone has a new red... Not tile or granite. Thanks for the advice... Overbearing could be concern. I did not realize that the 20 old floor would dominate as it does.

or red walls! I agree with Darzy......not on counters, but backsplash or wall color! Paint is much easier to change than tiles, countertops, etc.. You would still get your "red" on, and it would have a big impact!

My vote is for the darker of the 2 floor samples you've picked.

What do you think of this red backsplash? You could also covert a couple upper cabs to open shelves or glass doors and display your red accessories.

very true on taking a couple of doors off, or installing some glass onto some of the doors. She could also paint the inside of those cabs red!
