Honestly I could probably go for a brown or a blue toned backsplash.

I love would love copper but i am wondering if that will go with the adjoining room which is painted edgecomb grey with gray couch etc...?

From the description - absolutely.

I think a natural stone such as the one used here would tie the two together.

I agree with Deborah Butler. A travertine or other natural stone tile that has shades of BOTH the yellowish cream of the cabinets and the pinkish(?) cream of the granite mixed together would make the different shades of white look cohesive together. It's hard to tell the exact shades on a computer monitor, so I'd bring home some different samples and look at them in the room against both surfaces in different lights.

Here is a better photo that shoes more of the true color of my granite. Sorry I didn't realize the other did look pinkish!

I agree that if the undertone in the countertop is actually gray, then either a soft gray backsplash or one that very subtly combines the gray with the cabinet's creamy tones would look nice. Just to get a bigger picture effect, here is a kitchen with creamy cabinets that are slighly yellow in undertone with a soft gray glass tile backsplash (different tile shape than Keane's photo, but a similar tone) and a white granite with some grays in it.

I have seen a brown with gray 6'' tile installed on the diagonal with cabinets this color.

Gray would be my pick - no one is going to see the "yellow" they will only see the creaminess . . . so instead of tryiing to pull them all in, I would look for a gray from the top in an interesting shape. Aggie's got some interesting patterns . . .I would go ceramic and stay away from stone so your stone can be the star there . . one of the hand painted / hand made look tiles out now in a gray background with a pattern that picked up some cream and white would be amazing. .

I like feeny's suggestion. Kind of a medium toned warm gray. Not a really light gray, but a somewhat darker shade so you get some contrast like the picture feeny posted.

Haha sorry! The cabinets are painted and the color is antique white but I'm sorry I can't remember the manufacturer off the top of my head :(

For me, knowing the type of wood is critical. That is what is holding up a lot of her decisions. Do you know type of wood? Thanks for the response :)

I am guessing the Doors are Maple, if the cabinets are American Made and the Cabinet Boxes are Plywood...
