A lot of houses in this area were built in the 70's and are due for an update. Kitchen design was not very evolved at that time and floor plans were constricted. To bring this one into the current century we opened the tiny kitchen to the formal dining room and switched out the old rear entrance for French doors opening from the dining room onto the screened porch. This gave us room in the kitchen for double wall ovens and comfortable seating at the new island. All new lighting was designed and installed including a skylight and a new, taller window with a view of the back yard.
The cabinets are made in Canada and the custom door style was designed just for this type of renovation. It's a recessed panel with a wide tapered bead that gives owners another option for a transitional look other that the ubiquitous Shaker style.
