What is the metal picture on the backsplash above the cooktop made of and what would something like that cost?

The centerpiece in the backsplash is an antique iron fireback that was used to reflect and store heat in a coal fireplace. The owner found this on the internet and we managed the installation along with the reclaimed antique tile. I have attached a link to one provider and additional search for "antique iron fireback" will locate additional suppliers.

The fireback is beautiful - how did you install it?

Karen, Where are you located? All I will say about the installation is that is was all custom. The back-splash tile was antique reclaimed tiles that were +/- 3/4" thick before setting (they also varied in thickness). The iron back centerpiece was installed before the tile was installed. Good luck with your project.

DeRhodes- can you provide more detail on the installation process and how you did it without screws or brackets being visible? Thank you

We had brackets that were fastened to the rear of the fire-back, and they extended above and below about 4". We had the brackets align with the stud framing and anchored directly to the studs with large screw anchors. The drywall was removed at the bracket location fro a flush fit in the rear. The tile back splash was antique tile approximately 5/8" thick and built up the thin-set to make a flush face with the fire back. I hope this helps. It was a creative solution for a clean install.
