Need to make space for family dining

I have a kitchen cum family room and I want to make space for a 4 seater dining. The kitchen is currently not a renovated one and there's a small island in center but cannot be used for seating. One idea that i had was this -

However, I am a bit confused about what colors i should choose and how to execute it. Want to see if others can give me some ideas? Really appreciate any inputs. Have also attached a pic of the kitchen cum dining.

how much space do you currently have between the sofas and the island? and can the sofas move at all to give you room there for a seating space?
on the colors, it depends if you are looking to connect the seating space to the kitchen or the living room or if you want it to stand alone? it should match the area you want it to be associated with, or be different if you are looking to stand alone.

The Barton Hills pic is very pretty, I like the bench.

Can't tell in the photo but looks like there is enough room for a proper dining table. The Barton Hills idea works if you have a small family, otherwise you might need to pull the table out for every meal.
