My parents are changing the flooring of their ~1800 sq ft home and currently have white ceramic tile (similar to the attached photo) throughout most of the house (except the bedrooms). The sunken living room currently is Santos Mahogany (similar to attached photo)--which they added on later. Since the white tiled rooms (family room, foyer, hallway, kitchen, and dining room) surround the wood in the living room, what woods would be complementary to the current living room flooring, and would not look mismatched or out of place? Is their only option the same Santos Mahogany?
