I would love to know the style of this library desk and where it can be purchased!

Just a correction to my mistake. The desk is a George III Carlton House style desk.

Where are you located? I have a Broderip & Wilkinson one. Not sure of the exact year but they only worked together from 1796-1802, so can be dated pretty well.
Have been using it as a sideboard but either going to use it as a desk or move it on if it doesn't work in our new room.

Mahogany is not a favourite over here in the UK at the moment, so think I have to try and use it. Thinking of doing an office/music room with integrated bookshelves a mish mash of sofas and club chairs and painted in a nice Farrow & Ball grey. Lots of lamps, and just keep it cosy. We are in a nice old building with lots of tall ceilings and sash windows so think it will work and give this 200 year old piece a nice modern touch.

Blimey, was this over 2 years ago? We only started on that room back in December, so much other work on the house elsewhere, and as it is just a room for reading and music it sort of got pushed back.

We have now stripped the old wallpaper off, removed the dado and picture rails (to give a more modern look with extra height) replastered and painted in Farrow and Ball Downpipe (looks greener in the photo than it is) and Little Greene Rolling Fog Light for the skirting, windows and ceiling.

I had some quotes for cabinets and shelving fitted into the alcoves, but they were so expensive I am now going to make them over the Easter break. (I have promised my wife!)

But we are in there and have been enjoying having a cosy room back in the house. I do have the spinet in there too, I will get a picture from the other side.

    Can't wait to finish it.
