Front door color

We are cutting 4 long skinny horizontal windows in each of these 1964 doors. What color do you think we should paint the,? House color to remain. We have a zen+MCM+Pacific NW style. And yes, that's a tree growing through the covered walkway. I love our new house!

If you don't like green, orange, black, and red are often used with gray. Or are you looking for a suggestion of a very specific color? I just used Allen + Roth by Valspar "Front Door Red" and was happy with that decision. It was paired with a light gray, similar to yours, and a very dark gray trim.

Take a photo of the house itself and post, please.

Sorry, I thought that was the neighbours house. Also didn't realise you meant paint the door. Look up colours at Pantone 2014 , they will go with grey.

Just wondering if you checked out Crestview Doors they have some really amazing MCM doors and probably by the time you get someone to fiddle around with yours you could get them ordered and finished ready to hang, just a thought. Oh yeah I would go orange, I must say though I do like the chartreuse.

Is that grey on the house? If so, I would either do a blue (that leans grey) and a trim that is a mix of the new door color and the house color; or, vice versa (trim/door).

At first I was going to lean towards a darker shade of green, to go with the rest of the green and the trees. Then I changed my mind.

Orange. Definitely Orange. It's one of those colors that, when used right, just pops. I think this would be one of those spaces.

I can feel the excitement in your post. Great feeling to love your home. That tree is amazing , and kudos to you for keeping it. Now to the door. Agree with something in orange, more of a brown-orange. Will enhance the contemporary look you have going.

I like the orange or the teal that groveraxle posted.

In looking again at the colors I posted of your door, I think you could paint any color and it would still look good. This entry is stunning.

Wow! I was working on the yard today and just now checked my post... Thank you all for the comments. Groveraxle, I love the teal! That's a color I hadn't thought about. It's a brownish gray exterior and I think that would pop. The house is truly amazing. We found some incredible hardscape under 5 years of neglect. I'll let y'all know when the doors are done! We are contractors so we have resources to renovate the original doors and I would always rather do that then buy new. Thanks again!

Grobby, isn't that tree cool? It really adds a lot to the entry. There's also a koi pond just to the left of this photo.
    Yes the tree is cool.

I think Pantone's color of the year, Orchid, would be smashing - especially if you could get some actual orchids to grow on that tree.

Long skinny windows won't be balanced in the door. The door seems to be more wide rectangle, therefore windows should be close. Also just cutting a hole in the door may cause major structural issues with the door.

    Great looking entry way tho

I second the chartreuse vote. So pretty!!

and you have a lovely home!
@pcride thanks for the concern. We have commercial door manufacturer that will be doing the relight installation on it.

The dark purple looks incredibly sexy. The blue green looks wholesome - which are you?

It's more of a brown than gray. How about Tiffany blue?

I think either a red or blue would really pop if that is what you are looking for. Heritage Red and Blue Lapis from Benjamin Moore are both very nice colours. But any colour will go with the gray siding. Gorgeous entryway!

Love the brick in grover's post. Raisin or charcoal blue would look great, too.
