Need help with our master bedroom decor

Hello everyone. We need some help pulling our master bedroom together. We have worked so hard on the rest of our house and are finally ready to work on this room. I have tried to take some pictures of each wall in the room so you can see the layout. We replaced some old sliding doors with new French doors that lead out to the sunroom. We had the popcorn ceilings scraped and painted, the baseboards and window trim were stained a dark walnut and we painted those white to lighten up the room. The walls were recently painted BM Linen, along with the master bathroom walls.

I was hoping to make a sitting area with a chair and lamp where the lawyer's bookshelves are currently located. The bed, my husband's dresser and my antique dresser absolutely stay. The antique loveseat is currently in here because we have no place else to put it. It is a family piece that we just aren't sure what to do with. It was recovered about 5 years ago in a green velvet. I know we need some type of window treatment and art for the walls.

The area rug (PB Henley rug) that is in there was from our previous house and is there until we can replace the wall to wall carpet that is under it. I do have a different duvet that I use in the spring and summer, if you need to see it I can take a picture of that as well.

I know you all will have some great ideas to help us bring this room together and look finished.

rngp - We'll gather up some of the books and play around with them tomorrow. And I'll let him know what you said about size lol

I think the tray is beautiful over the dresser! The brass picks up the lighter inlay of the dresser. Do you have a vase or piece of pottery taller than the plant to put on the dresser making a visual triangle?

Love the color and the shape and the size! Any candle stick of substance? Pile of books with a little sculptured bird on the top?

Kmedl..love your drapes! And I think the tray idea is a winner.

Thanks, mkhodges. I'm going to work on the tray this weekend and see if I can get it looking good enough to put up. We are really pleased with the way the room has evolved.

Update - I worked on the tray this week and it really cleaned up well. We attached a hanger to the back and hung it up today. We're still looking for something else to go on the dresser with the plant. The case with stones is just there temporarily. How do you think the tray looks?

The jewelry cloche from PB that I ordered last November (I think it was) has finally been shipped. It will go on my dresser.

We took the last 2 prints to be framed and they will be ready April 9th. So....we are almost finished with this room.

What a wonderful addition to the room! Looks fantastic.

Beautiful! Almost finished--wow--such a fun ride!

GREAT to see that hanging there. Love it!

    Looks REALLY nice. Brilliant idea!

Woot! Woot! Round and Shiny!! Absolutely perfect!! Now....we're all bored beyond belief with the current variety of dilemmas, can we start the sunroom soon??? lol!
    Beautiful!
    HI Kmedl;)
I think you found the perfect item for over his dresser AND the price was right, just a little elbow grease;))
Bubbasgma, you made me laugh! Well, guess what...the next project is the laundry room area because its driving us crazier than the sunroom. Guess that's because we really haven't been hanging out much in the sunroom yet and we're in the laundry room every day.

Anyway - would a laundry room project bore everyone to death??? We're going to be knocking out some walls to open up the space. Our contractor will probably be working on it in a couple of months if we can figure out how we want to lay it out. Does that project interest anyone?????

Shhhh...Don't tell the Lime Pusher, she's been wanting to work on a laundry room for months now!!!
She must be off making smoothies??
    Yea, where is she?
Oh, wait! It's Friday, so Miami. Drinking Key Lime Margaritas with Juan Pablo!
Margarita I wish, Juan Pablo, no lol
Bring on the laundry room kmedl. We need a spring project;))
Oh, Margo....Bad Boys need some lovin' too!
I would love a laundry room dilemma! Mine's too small to do anything fun with, so bring yours on!
Alright, then! A new project - our laundry room. I'll take some pics and post a new dilemma. When I get it posted I'll put a link here so you can find it. I'll try to work on it today.
kmedl...The link opens with a Facebook attachment?
bubbasgma - I don't know about it opening with a Facebook attachment????? Don't want anything to do with Facebook!!
Your link has a an odd Facebook link embedded in the address. Sort of a sneaky way to get people to "accidentally" link their Facebook and Houzz accounts, I think?

Best to delete it, for everyone "Privacy"..
    Deleted it!

Checking back in. The tray is gorgeous! It not only adds beauty, but substance as well. Great job, everyone, on the whole room. Kmedl, you have worked so hard....are you pleased?
Mkhodges-yes, very pleased! Its come a long way! We're waiting on the last two prints to be framed and probably pick them up this week. Then I'll hang them and take a pic.

Heres a question for everyone. We don't think we'll put the mirrors over the night stands like we had originally talked about. Do you guys think we need anything over the bed since we aren't going with the 2 mirrors?
In my opinion, no, it's beautiful as is. I think something over the bed would detract from and possibly compete with the new art to the right.
    I don't ;)
Agree that it looks beautiful as is!
I agree that the room looks finished now. Serene. Does not need anything else.
Sounds like everyone is in agreement that nothing needs to go over the bed. The last two art prints are framed and ready to be picked up, so I'm getting them Thursday. I'll post a pic when we get them hung. Then I think the room will be finished!!!
Kmedl....are you getting some spring there yet? I would love to have that porch/sunroom that is adjacent to your new room.
Oh yes, spring is here and we've had the windows and doors open with all the fresh air!

Here are the last two framed prints. I'm very happy with the way they finish off the space by my dresser. We had them framed with the same mat style and color and same frame as the first two. Also here is a pic of the first two prints on the other wall.

Very pretty! Did you say that you'd ordered the jewelry cloche for your dresser?
Geez, I forgot to tell you all about the PB jewelry cloche. I had ordered it in October and it was back ordered until April. It finally came last week and guess what...the inside part that holds the necklaces was bent and crooked. I was bent out of shape myself when I saw it!!! I called them and they were already sold out and so couldn't replace it. Seems I have had so many quality control issues with PB. So, back to the drawing board with something for my dresser.
New art looks great! You did such a nice job with this room!!!!
LOVE the art choices and how they go together soooo well!
Bummer about the cloche! Guess it wasn't meant to be and whatever you find will be better!!
It is all beautiful, Kmedl. Well done.

We also designed our own master bed area, which feels like a hotel to us! :) https://www.thebrainandthebrawn.com/designing-our-own-bed-must-haves/

Just in case this sparks any ideas! :)
