I know I have posted pictures of my kitchen several times before. It seems that I have made many attempts to improve it, but never come out just "loving it", and that is what I want. 1st off, I think that the backsplash and counters I picked out make it too dark, even though I have a large window over the sink and a sun tunnel over the island, it still feels dark. I also have decided that I don't really like the dark tile floors that much. I have spent lots of money trying to make improvements to this space, but it doesn't seem like I am ever satisfied with my choices after all is said and done. I wanted a "wow" kitchen with some "bling" because this kitchen is the first thing that you see when you walk into the house.
I have also installed a new modern back door that lets in more light since these photos were taken.
Now I am wondering if I should paint the island or the cabinets. I love the wood in the main cabinets, but the island was added later, and I don't care for that wood so much. ( It is very Yellow). I thought of maybe even pickling them, like we did to my parent's old cabinets in the last photo. They were pickled birch to begin with, but had yellowed due to age. We repickled using Rustoleum cabinet transformations.
Any suggestions? I cannot afford to change the floor, cabinets, or backsplash right now.
