AARRGGGHH! Need help finding an area rug

Can't find an area rug that fits my space. As you can see we have a boring white shag that is not big enough. HELP! Note: furniture is not as orange as it looks.
Thanks.

Yes, the designer who posted that photo lists the rug as coming from an upscale oriental rug gallery in Austen, TX (and it looks hand knotted, vegetable dyed, and expensive), but there are definitely more affordable versions you can find in a similar style and/or color palette. I used it as an example merely to show how beautiful blues and terra cotta oranges can look together since you were sounding a bit timid about heading toward groveraxle's blue suggestion.

I think that rug is unique ,and the closet you can get is this one

    This is a steal.

Not as vibrant as the one we are targeting. I would guess that rug is $ 3-5,000

    [houzz= https://www.houzz.com/photos/9-x-12-dhurry-rug-phvw-vp~8278720]

    $ 630

Are you willing to compromise on the boldness in order to get the colors and style?

Or is it the boldness that attracts you first?

I am waiting for a jump start, so I might as well shop for you. Relaxes me.

Thank you all very much for the help- Seeing the pictures is helping me move towards the blue colours.

So, yes, Ramona, I am looking for a bold traditional rug with blue or turquoise!
    Ramona,

I believe the one you said was a steal is the same as the one groveraxle sent in the second picture, which I love, but I am looking for more of a pattern. I like the bold colours, not looking for the muted colours in the second picture.

Waiting for a jump? Hope the weather is not too cold.

If you read the whole thread on houzz relating to that picture, the rug is a one of a kind antique. It might be $ 30,000 if you could find it.

I don't why manufacturers don't look at stuff like this and make replicas.

I think you can find something with that feel.

I'm safe in the house. The weather is too cold, period.
No, I am sorry it is not the same rug, but very similar. Love them both, but looking for a pattern.
Yes, I read the thread after I sent the comment.
Yes, why don't they make replicas? I would purchase one that looked like that!

    the blue one is stunning!
Isnt the one I posted replica?

Urban outfitters has cool rugs. This one I like for your space.
You can get it for 50% off, but you will have to wait as it is back ordered. I have gotten rugs from rugsusa and have been satisfied.

I'm glad you like it because it gives you a lot of options for the rest of the room.
Yes, sondramartina it is- and I keep liking it. I think this one is a contender :)
Why don't you check local oriental rug stores? You can always negotiate the price, they like to do that if they own the store. I love oriental rugs in any setting .

shaunakate, I really like the rug, but I am trying to go with more colour.

Love them all! I have a lot to think about.

Here are two rugs that are not quite right. I post them to show you need the right balance. The first one is from sondramartina and it's really close, but has too much orange. The second is that turquoise you linked to above; it's too much, overpowering. (Looked through about 1000 rugs and never did find the one I was looking for. Probably discontinued.)
Agree ,first one has too much orange.Grover what about overdyed blue rugs from West Elm?
I don't know if vickyuz likes them?
Groveraxle, you are right, beautiful rugs, but not quite right. Thank you for looking through the rugs, I appreciate it.

Vickyz do you want us to continue or is it too many suggestions?

    Would this one work?

That is a beautiful rug as well. I am a little overwhelmed right now, trying to take it all in.

Thank you all so very much for your help, I am going to take a little breather right now.

    Houzz rocks!

    And the West Elm rug:

It will be difficult to go bold without going too bold. I know you will need to change your pillows and the accent chair might not work. Better not to get accent patterns till you have the right rug.

I am signing off now. Too many choices for all of us.
Couple more. The first one below is the one I had in mind. I find I don't like it as well as I thought I would.

I like second and third. Not bold but they look pretty good.
And I like this one too.
Sorry Vickiz but we are having too much fun,it Is hard to stop :)
    Definitely NO GREEN, sorry kellyaltman09
  • 12 years ago
    sondramartina, carry on :)
Sorry to hijack..but what are you guys using to place the rug in the picture?
    @Kristen, Photoshop Elements.
I think the blues look too harsh. Think grey or cool mushroom.
whyze, i agree. The blue rugs are beautiful, but not quite what I was looking for.
Personally, I would go cooler and more subtle, but vicki said she wanted bold, so we looked for bold.

    Either way could work.
You got the colours looking at you :) look at the picture on the wall and pick the gold and brown and light blue from it
  • 12 years ago
I like the blue very much, especially the first ones Groveraxel posted. I would like to see a round coffee table in your space.
it's a rug. Go for a bold choice. You won't regret it. 2nd one glover shows in turquoise is very nice also first rug sondrama, shows is a hit too.
groveraxle, (I am a fan), would you consider using you photoshop magic to at least try this Overstock rug for vickicz?
Item #: 12514704 Tufted Metro Flower Rug Beige
Understand your coolness / balance goal.
I am utterly inept on the uploading ability.
Still feels like, at least, a possibility to me.
I not, thanks for the help you give everyone and to vickicz.

My contributions...love the first one, but it's Stark. Second one is interesting and on wayfair.
I like that rug a lot, thanks for your assistance, groveraxle!
    groveraxle, you are the best!
Might or might not work for vickicz, but it is so nice to see your magic.
Now, what do you really think?
    Best to everyone.
