I agree, a tall and slightly bushy plant such as a fig tree would be lovely. You have a great window for a plant, too.

It looks as if you have equal amounts of space on either side of the tv - if that is the case, I would like to see a chair in each corner angled toward the room. When you have guests you can pull them forward to make room for additional seating and a conversational area with your sofa.

Maybe stack-able baskets. Make that corner usable storage space!

I brought the piece under the tv at home good 3 weeks ago and found the matching bookcase last night at another home good and wasn't sure if I should buy it!! Based on everyone's comments I just ran back and brought it home. Placed it cattie(sp?) corner.

Hi lisag0701, Marie here. You need some soft in this room - I tend to be a symmetrical designer so whatever I put in this corner, I'd want in the other corner, so being that you have a chair on the other side, I'd go for the same chair here as well. I would have preferred you go with two fabric chairs, as an all leather room feels cold.

You also need a splash of colour - in something, maybe artwork, toss cushions - lamps. Your beautiful botanicals are lovely - but against the heavy, large leather furniture feel lost. Spread that green and brown around the room from your botanicals - very pretty, earthy and comfy. Good Luck!

Definitely some large potted palms would look fabulous there.

Lisa, I would create a more cozy corner with that bookshelf. Put it against one of the walls, place an armchair next to it, and put a floor lamp between the two or on the other side of the armchair. Put some artwork above the armchair, and that corner will become a great space to sit at.

First, lisag0701, let me thank you for an absolutely perfect series of pictures from which to judge your room. I wish all dilemmas were this straightforward!

You can use the matching bookcase, but I would put it flat against the wall, perpendicular to the TV console, instead of catty corner, if you do.

But I too would rather see a fabric chair and maybe a tall plant. This room is a bit sterile, unlived-in looking, wanting some color and softness, I think.

I too think the room needs 2 fabric chairs in each corner to soften the hard angles, place small round table beside as place to put a drink, maybe a floor lamp for lighting and some table lamps too as I don't see any lighting in the room.

I think it would make a nice reading corner. instead of a plant, I would get an attractive floor lamp and a very minimal stool or side table for setting a cup of coffee on. It will make a nice place for someone looking for a place to read the paper or their "device".
