What are your sofas focused on? Is there a focal point? Why are they so far apart? How do people carry on conversation in this space? What are the lamps illuminating? Why is everything up against the walls? If you can figure these ??? out you'll be on your way to a solution.

The bones in this room are fabulous. I live the wainscoting and the doors and floor. Your rustic coffee table could be the start of a great look.

I see a large cowhide rug under that great table. Your couches work great, but need to be closer together for a more conversational feel.

A layout of the room would be helpful.

As per earlier question, add more photos and room layout so we can get feel for the space and determine what the focal point(s) of room are. For e.g. is there a fireplace? view?

Break up your space with two seating areas. A couple of chairs and tables near the patio door for conversation, reading, games, etc. and add a sofa, chairs and coffee/side tables at the other end of the room. Art is a must especially if you don't have any interesting focal points in the room. If you have a nice area outside the patio doors, open the curtains to enjoy the view.

The space is awkward because this space is a passage for people entering the house to go either upstairs or downstairs. The furniture placement does not have real rhyme or reason as I don't know what to do with the odd layout.

There is a view outside my patio door window as it looks out to my garden, however the patio doors are dated and I would like to replace them. The French doors lead to the foyer. So I don't know what to use as a focal point.

I find the sofas are almost too large for the space that is why they are placed too far apart.
