I think a 3 and 2 sofa will fit. This living room has the dining attached.

If you can have a look at the floor plan, the main entrance and the walk way could have occupy lots of usable space. 3+2 is definitely out. The picture attached also has masking tape for the possible L shape sofa, if I go for that option, the single seater will be ruled out.

Difficult question.
It depends on what you like to do? Are you mostly alone or with two people? Do you watch TV when you are with more people? In which case the L-shaped sofa would be good.

If you want a seating arrangement that is more suited for conversations, I'd go for a good size sofa (2 seater, because 3 people on a 3-seater is always awkward) and place the chair about where the tape of L-part ends. So the chair is facing the front door.

The furniture you have looks good. A sectional would provide maximum use of the relatively narrow space. Not sure if there is another spot for the chair.

Looking at your floor plan I agree with Carolins, two seater and keep your chair, this allows for more flexibility where visitors to you're home are concerned, there may be times when you don't want to be so close on a 3 seater sofa and it allows a little more personal space.

@caroline and @muscatnana, getting a two seater is a more economical decision and the living room not being cramp up. Secondly, I don't think I want to spurge on a Camerich sectional sofa yet could be a better decision, cuz I have a little monster growing up.

@Dytecture, you've got a point too, sectional L really utilize the tight space, just like the floor plan.

I dot have a tv with me and plan to use the sofa for reading and extra space for guest to sit down, I think guest is more comfortable to sit on chairs at dining area.

@decoenthuthiaste , you meant i should stick with the L shape sofa but more compact and have the lounge chassis to arranged reversed? Forget the to tell you that the front door is a double pane swing door but different size, smaller pane open towards the living hall. For such arrangement the void area from the window will need to be increased.

No, I meant the sofa would be flexible if you ever move where you need to arrange the chaise on the opposite side of the sofa. Yes, do get a smaller scale piece.

@decoenthusiaste usually the L shape sofa that I found are not interchangeable. So you are on the side to get a L sectional sofa and move my current red single sitter to somewhere else. What made you think two seater is difficult to manage?

I would just go for a good size (2 seater) sofa that will fit easily in your space together with the red chair. Get comfy dining chairs and you can use them if you have more people over.

@carolins if I wish to get a two seater, I would go for another mid century or Scandinavian-ish piece. Nope, I am in Malaysia and have Ikea though.

Maybe you can get two more of the wooden leg chairs? You can put one of them at the head of the table if you're using an 'office chair' to work on your laptop.


That's a very mid century modern stylish looking sofa. Looks to be in good shape too. Well... you know the tape-on-the-floor-trick, so... :-) And Ikea has some good options too of course.
