I do like this. Was thinking geometric with some interest. Unsure what color way to go with. Do I want to keep it neutral or good place for pop of color.

Totally agree about little mirror. It was just somewhere to stick it. Keep ideas coming. Such a small space, what do you think of a textured paper?

How about a beautiful black and white wall paper in a large damask or geometric print. If it will be too much for you or too dark, you could always do a lovely white beadboard about a third up the wall. Finish with a large black framed mirror or large venetian glass one. if you don't like the mirror idea, you could do a recessed double shelf inset into the wall. Let the wall paper run all over the wall, including into the recessed niche and make the shelves either black or white. Do make it pop with a bold design--your chance to be daring! I bet it will receive rave reviews from your friends! Good luck!

This powder room was warmed up with a washable vinyl wallpaper in a small print. I like to use art in a powder room and preferably have a mirror over the wash hand basin so visitors can check their make-up! Lighting either above or on each side of the mirror is best and there are so many options out there as long as they are scaled to fit the space.

Scale is especially important in such small space.

I would consider papering the "ceiling" over the toilet also, so that it looks more like a wall than a ceiling.

Can we see a photo of the ceiling over the sink. The real ceiling?

This powder room is tiny and more traditional. The wallpaper is light and more feminine while adding interest. The new vanity, mirror and light fixture complete the space and an inexpensive little painting adds variety. I like adding art in powder rooms as it gives people something to look at of character!

If you have little (or even big) boys in your house, you may want to consider only wall papering the wall behind your sink and then painting the remaining walls in a coordinating colour. That, or choose a non-pourus wall paper that is washable! ;)

Thanks! The light fixture looks like it is crowded into the ceiling. I would definitely buy something that is lower profile and doesn't look shoved into the angle.

Another option is to forget the wallpaper and paint the room in a light color/ceiling and walls all the same. The goal would be to eliminate the angles.

You need to hang something large and dramatic over the toilet, so you eye is drawn there and not to the toilet

I like the mirror. I'm just not sure if a rectangular shape is the best option here, give the angles that you have. I think an oval mirror would work best.

Love both those papers. Now I am unsure about all the angles and wallpaper. Ya'll have given me a lot to think about. So oval mirror no rectangle... Can ya'll tell I am a tad clueless.

I'd go dark and dramatic. Something you'd never use in a large space because it would be too much. Get something funky to use for your trash - tall ceramic patterned vase that compliments the colors on your wallpaper choice, perhaps. Ditch the plastic liner and just wipe it out when you empty it. The basket needs to go- its crowding the space.

You may also just want to paint and use a faux finish to get a more textured effect. The nice part about painting is there is no wall paper to remove (difficult & expensive) if you want to change it a few years down the road. Remember this is coming from a painter!

I'd go with a bold and dramatic paper, just making sure it includes white to make the fixtures blend in a bit. Definitely avoid the quieter, safer choices....they make sense for a room used every day for hours at a time, to avoid visual fatigue, but a powder room can take almost anything.

Abelmom, I'm sorry I'm not computer savvy, (I don't know how to attach photo's yet),but if you go to houzz.com and type in "powder rooms in black and white" at the top of the page, you will get some fantastic ideas for the wallpaper patterns and geometrics (some have more white than black). There is also a picture of a light fixture I think would look great. It has two hanging elongated "tube fashion" fixtures that hang from the ceiling but don't draw the eye up to it. Your eye goes to the hanging fixture--not the ceiling. They are done in silver cage, which will match your faucets. The picture is the number six picture down on page number seven. If you don't like that fixture, you could go with some silver ones with black shades (same page - the picture right below that one). I would also change that mirror to a venetian glass or at least paint that frame in black to complement the new black and white wall paper. I'm sorry I'm not computer savvy to attach these pictures, but I'm still learning. Good luck! Hope you post pictures after you're finished...

Funny, just looked at your idea book and saw that wallpaper! I like it, but see below.

-you seem to like light, neutral tones, so maybe you should stay lighter in keeping with your goals.

-constrictor paper in a bathroom----I don't know, that would scare me!! I would fear to open the toilet.

What about textured vinyl paper in something other than boa?

Abelmom, my computer keeps going off, so I will have to write in stages. Must be the weather....Did you get a chance to look at the powder rooms? I, too, love the taupe one you just added to your ideabook. It is one of my favorites as well! You may be happier with a wallpaper similar to that as it will coordinate with the rest of your house. But is you want to take a bold chance, some of those black and white ones are spectactular!

If the patterns are too bold for you, you could always go with a black and white toile (like the picture on one of those powder room pages. It would look amazing! Sorry to keep writing in segments, but this computer keeps going off.

I would just paint a great color (or maybe paint a large scale stencil that mimics wallpaper) and I would change out the mirror over the sink for something larger and more dramatic. Also, depending on paint or stencil or wallpaper, get a large piece of art for over the toilet. If the ceilings are high enough, what about a small but glam chandelier?

I really like rh sconces and measured I would have enough room. Ceiling is not tall enough for chandelier . Still trying to decide on wallpaper. May have to order some samples

are you sure you want wallpaper? if you get a hard brush (like on a push broom) get 2 colors of paint & dab brush into paint and hit it hard on the wall until you get that look you are trying to achieve. keep in mind humidity hurts wallpaper. this is a tedious faux technique but since the space is small you can get it done. good luck!

Keep going back to black and white. Removable is a great option. Need to order sconces from RH while on sale. Will write more tonight when kids are in bed and let you know what I'm thinking. Can't thank ya'll enough for all your help.

Wallpaper the whole thing. Find a metallic you like then paint ceiling a color from wallpaper. It's a powder room go crazy. Make it fun. I like the silver and blacks. Then use black towels. And paint ceiling a silver. Put some fun lights in. Nothing on walls.

Turn the wallpaper on the ceiling above the toilet and paint out the vent.
