I agree that your sofa is placed perfectly on your rug. Your room is coming together nicely! The only obvious thing is, as mveasy pointed out, your windows could use some side panels to warm things up a bit. And maybe a few more pillows splashed on the sofa.

I can't see the FP very well - does it have some sort of brick surround, or is it a stove type? Is it possible to show a pic of it?

Yes, the built-ins would go in the back along the wall with the bar. We want to re-work the bar when we do that so the whole wall is cohesive. Right now, the cabinetry and design of the bar with the brown mirrors leaves something to be desired! I've attached pics of the window (12 feet long, ~6.5 ft high) and fireplace. On the right side, there is literally 5 inches between the window and where the angled wall with the fireplace starts. So if we had window treatment panels, it would likely have to over most of the sliding glass door. I guess that's the only option??

The fireplace is one of those built-ins with some sort of venting you can switch on to heat the room. No brick, we'll just tile below it when we get to it. Oh, and definitely more pillows! Who knew how expensive they could be! Thank you both!

Hello dsnice! Sliding patio doors are such a pain to cover! I assume you need something to cover the black hole effect you would experience at night? Since the FP is so close to the windows, maybe a better solution would be the panel trac window covering. I've posted a few pics below so you get the idea. ,they are a custom covering, but aren't too pricey.

A more expensive, but nicer looking, option is sliding shutters, as shown on the last pic.

I'm sure you will hang a beautiful piece of art over the FP - please tell me you will! This will make huge impact to the warmth and overall feel of your room.

And the pillows - have a look at the online pillow store tonicliving.com. They sell lots of pillow covers in on-trend colors and patterns and at an affordable price. Ikea sells I very I expensive down inserts, so you could order the covers from Tonic Living and buy the inserts from Ikea. Just make sure you are buying sizes that are compatible with what Ikea sells.

I am struggling to see the entire room here. Having said that, have you thought about turning the area rug to run parallel with the fireplace. That may add some interest to the room.

So we've got a bunch done with this room in the last year and now we are trying to figure out what to do with the corner fireplace. It needs floor tile and some wall interest; the only ideas I have are a wall shelf for a mantle and some artwork, but not sure which direction to go!
