What a great suggestion for the poster boards! Do you think this tone of grey clashes with cream? I'm just afraid we have to re-paint the whole apt, since it's mostly a creamy off-white.

Part of what is going on here is the different light and wall color in your home is distorting how your eye perceives the color of these sofas. My guess is that brown wall is turning the grey to blue. Try a lighter wall color or, better yet, move the sofas toward the lighter wall at the end of room to see if the color appears closer to grey. If so, then you have your answer.

Of course you can fix this . A little paint and work just as mentioned above. I would suggest you stay away from grey and coral color scheme just doesn't work in LR.

You can try, but in the future hire a professional who will come out and look at your problem and help you make the right decisions with the right furniture and the right fabrics. Part of what good designers do is to stop you from making costly mistakes. We are worth our weight in gold. The store you bought these from probably has a young designer on staff that for a small fee might have come out and made sure they worked. PAINT THE WALL A COLOR THAT COMPLEMENTS THE COLOR OF THE VELVET ON THE CHAIRS. IT DOESN'T HAVE TO MATCH. IT JUST HAS TO LOOK GOOD WITH THE FABRIC. PAINT IS CHEAP.

If you are going to try to do it yourself, always get the store to give you a reasonable size cutting of the fabric or buy a pillow in the same fabric that you can return, take it home and look at it in the space. If you are buying chairs and sofa, make sure they are returnable if you find out they are too big or too small for your room. A designer would have laid them in a furniture plan done to scale to make sure they fit properly.
