I have the same problem but I've resigned myself to replacing the felt pads once a year.

I found some heavy duty felt pads on Amazon. They are a bear to cut to size, because they are really thick. But no scratches, so far.

Thank you all. I am going to check my local hardware store for the nail in glide. I did check the link and learned the glides should be a bit smaller than the diameter of the chair leg. Thanks for your help.

FWIW, we had the nail in glides before we got the floor resealed. They were silicone, and really worked well, at first. But unless you don't allow shoes in the house AND sweep or vacuum or Roomba daily, they WILL get tiny particles of grit embedded in them and scratch the floor. We don't allow shoes, but, when we removed them, you could still see the little scratchies in them.

The guy who resealed our floor said he always recommends felt, which is why we went with it, this time.

I found nail in glides with felt pads tucked inside a silicone "cap" at Home Depot. I am going to try and remember this leather tip though as I bet that would work better!

I tried the leather but that made the chairs (which are heavy oak) hard to move. I may try that on my living room furniture though as they do help protect the floor. I cut leather circles from an old belt and glued them on. For the dining room chairs I then hammered the felt glides through the leather and into the chair legs. So far so good!

I use sugru it's this crazy fun silicone putty stuff you can buy on the grommet website. kind of like adult playdoh. But 1000 times cooler. You can use it to fix a ton of stuff. Now I sound like an add but it works great for my chairs.
