Flat. The pitched one looks ordinary.

I like the pitched roof. To me the other looks unfinished. In the first one the house going up looks like a tiered cake..diminishing. The second one is much more balanced. It reminds me a little of a Frank Lloyd Wright home..timeless.

Much prefer the pitched room. Home looks larger and warmer.

I prefer the flat, it seems to belong with the other modern elements of the home. The pitched roof looks like it belongs on a more traditional Florida house, so out of place here.

The flat roof looks nice but I don't feel flat roofs are practical especially in a climate that gets a lot of rain like Florida.

I prefer the flat roof. The pitched roof looks too coastal.

I'd do both together....let me finish, lol....keep the flat, take the frame of the pitched and put over the flat....attach horizontal louvres to the frame in a stationary half-open position...unless the budget allows for movable louvres. Now, *that* would be so cool.

Flat

But if I had to chose one or the other "almost flat"...pitched outward. EPDM roofs are always a problem....eventually. BTW, the roof over the entrance...pitched toward a cricket?

Flat. Makes me think of Art Deco with a nod to a Trans Atlantic cruise ship .

Nod to FLW, love it, flat like Fallingwater, or if you must low-pitched like Robie House.

They each provide a different style.

I think the pitched looks great and is more practical. Yea, Falling Water did have a lot of leaking roof issues,

I know a handful of people who have a plat roof & they all have leaking problems. The showroom I work for in pasadena (Tap 'N' Tile) always leaks when it rains. I would go with the Pitched.

I love the flat look as well. Ft Lauderdale rains in torrents--3:00-4:00 every afternoon! See if the architect and contractor/roofer can slightly pitch the roof toward one side (the back?) which may still appear flat, but give the rain enough pitch to run off toward a gutter and downspout.

I like the flat with the design of the house, but would worry about flat roofs greater tendency to leak

My parents have two flat roofs and hate both of them for different reasons. Pitched. I distrust flat roofs.

Pitched. Flat roof in Florida is not as wind resistant as a Hip roof. Lots of rain means lots of moisture to shed. A metal roof installed correctly will give you protection for longer. Depending on the insulation used and method of application along with the utilities a pitched roof may afford you better protection from the elements and ability to vary methods to ventilate and cool in the long warm season.
