I've never heard of painting the ceiling anything other than white. Even in my design mags I've not seen that really. Maybe it's not hit the uk yet??

just a word of advice...research has found that it can cause moodswings and depression to live (especially sleep) under dark painted ceilings....so if you're going for a coloured one...keep it light :-)

Someone mentioned art across from your papered wall. I was looking at pictures of fabrics from Versailles and ran across this. What fun this would be with your profile as the cameo and done in your colors.

Wow. Where to begin? I think you need to take a close look at this wallpaper and decide between elegant and fun, because there is a fine line between glamorous and gaudy. I agree with staining the bed a deep brown, such as mahogany. I would paint the walls a warm ecru or tan. I would add some gold accessories such as a vanity tray with perfume bottles. I would use cream with gold embroidery for the sheets and I would do a gold thread damask for the spread. I would then use the hot pink for an angora throw, some silk throw pillows on the bed and chair etc... This wall needs to be a focal point in this room, and if you put too much pink or other loud colors your room will begin to look more bohemian less Beethoven (like a symphony, well composed). On the other hand, if the whole reason you chose this paper was for the bold color, then go mad hatter tea party and use 2-3 bright colors and oversized items for drama and effect, such as tall floor vases and a tall hot pink library chair. Either way, go big or go home.

I certainly don't need to be depressed by my ceiling especially living in north England. It's grey and miserable and wet here. Maybe that's why all our ceilings are white!!!!

We would suggest painting the bed gold or white, with white accent pieces, I could get on board with Orange or Bright pink accents!

Amazing ideas Terri. I love the pale gold bedding idea and bright pink throws. I can't get my head round the darkness of teal walls, I think the room is too small. Def into the dark stain.

If you can't do the dark teal walls, what about a sunny creamy pale yellow...not a scream in your face but a delicate yellow with a green undertone? That would give you a beautiful backdrop for your other colors and eliminate any depressiveness. Basically an almost but not quite white that would be neutral yet cheerful.

Here's another idea - do the lime/chartreuse upholstery as shown in this chair. Then, notice the contrasting fabric on the arms and the piping? You could do the same fabric as your bedding in this trim work. We might be back to using some white, though. The frame of your chair could be painted white maybe?

Yes, could go with "gold" for the walls - back to Barnhart Gallery's rendition, but,with your pink bedding.

Not quite as dark as Barnhart's, less gold/brown and brighter, sunnier look. I'll try to find a paint color to show you.

Another question. Your picture in your bedroom shows the wallpaper being very blue but your inspiration pic shows much more turquoise. Which is more accurate in the room itself? Lighting is always an issue when taking pictures to post here.

The wall paper is very formal. And your headboard is not. Get a tall padded fabric headboard in a gold from wallpaper. Bedding could go a deeper gold. Stay in that for lamps. Panels on windows a teal like wallpaper. White will not work with this color. Is whole room wallpaper?

Just saw pic paint a teal from wallpaper. Take a piece of it and they can match paint to it.

Hi so I've been quite busy this week. I found a chair in a local shop which he is going to upholster in the lime green and the teal brocade. I had an idea to make a fabric sleeve for the top and bottom of the bed so I've been laying fabric over to see which is right.

I will have pale gold bedding I think and the same colour curtains. I've bought a tester pot of teal tension paint to see if it would look good on walls. I picked up these accessories from round the house and found the case at the local supermarket'!

That should 'vase' not 'case'

And one more- lots to do but getting there. I need to think about the bedside lights and possibly darken the floor but there is no rush.

Hi sweet pea, Just want to clarify - are you doing gold bedding or pink bedding? Maybe you meant to say gold headboard, and staying with pink for the bedding? Because I have totally embraced the pink for the bedding, so you're going to break my heart if you don't do it now!

Not sure I like the grey at the end of the bed. Maybe it's me, but I don't see grey working with these jewel tones.

Also, the green for the chair - it could be just my monitor, but it looks similar to the gold. Is it quite a bright lime, or a little more gold? The trim is really pretty - that's going to be one sweet chair!

I haven't decided yet. Probably going to take a while to decide what is where. I'm just laying colours down and seeing how they look. The fabric I got for the chair (which I just laid over the bed frame to see what it looked like) is a very light lime green. The throw on the bed is actually teal not grey.
I don't want to break your heart about the bedding maybe I could do a couple of headboard covers and have a variety of bedding then I can mix and match. I'm very excited about the chair it's going to be gorgeous. I know what you mean about the bright pink but I'm wondering if that big block of colour of is too much?

Hhmm the throw does look grey on here it's definitely not. Ill report back when I've had a think! Maybe I'll get gold bedding but keep bright pink pillows and have a bright pink throw in the gold and pink silk I took pic of.

Use the colors in the wallpaper and it will be fabulous, If the manufacturer of the wallpaper makes fabric as well, find out if they have coordinating fabrics to your paper. That would make decorating much easier.
I love the paper! Great choice!

I like the "big block of color"(pink) opposing the "big block of wallpaper"! If you do little bits of pink here and there, I think it will look spotty and unconnected. The pink bedding makes it a player in the overall color scheme.

So, if it comes to a vote, put me down as 1) pink bedding, 2) gold headboard and drapes, 3) lime green in chair and perhaps in bed pillow pattern, and 4) teal walls!
