Have you considered pulling the couch into the room more, would it completely block the access to dining room. It may be too long for that room.

I think you could get or create a hall bench and coat hooks to create more of a foyer. Or a slim table where the couch is that you could store shoes under or keep a couple little ottomans for extra seating.

Thanks everyone! We moved the couch up, but are we too close to TV now. It seems a little squished. Our couch is 35" deep. Maybe that's too deep for this space?

Keep your couch against the wall like you had it. Your room isn't big enough for it to be in the middle of the room--I know as my living room is very similar.

What about two smaller couches facing each other or a love seat and two chairs facing each other? Anyone seen any good examples of that for a cozy spot?

You can also create the illusion of a front entryway/foyer with some simple wainscoting. Just type in a "wainscoting narrow entry" into any search engine to get a bunch of ideas.

That way you can have a placeto hang keys, your purse, or a guest jacket without sacrificing precious space.

I like it! Is there enough room to put the couch in front of radiator? Leave a space in back of it and it would be perpendicular to the fireplace. Maybe? Hearth comes out a bit but it would allow for a bench along 'couch' wall and a chair or so by dining room door. Or simply move the TV into the corner and have couch 'squished up' like in photo. Thanks... I think I'm learning I need to scale down my furniture and go with an arrangement of seating perpendicular to the fireplace. With the room only being 11.5 feet wide and placement of doorway any sectional would just seem way too big (unfortunately).

Back to a blank slate... Now the fun begins. Thinking of adding floating shelving next to fireplace.

Is your dining room larger than your living room? Would you like the idea of switching the two spaces? The dining table could be positioned closer to the fireplace and not look as awkward as the sofa had. May not work. Will you attach more pics of the dining room?

I've considered that too, but the dining room isn't much bigger and flows right to kitchen so I like that set up. We also have this big bank of windows (that I love, but one less wall to work with). Here are pics of dining room.

I agree that is ideal to have dining off the kitchen. While space is empty you could play with it to see if you end up liking it. Sofa under windows. Tv on opposite wall.

Might I suggest a Very large mirror over your sofa to make the room appear larger? I would also move your floor lamp beside your sofa between the sofa and the narrow wall. Then, you could put a small chair in the corner beside the fireplace where the radiator is. As for hanging coats, would a coatrack work on the radiator side of the door? (mirror -- Joss and Main), (Chair -- Overstock), ( Coatrack -- Beyond Stores). LOVE your room and colors.
