What a great space.......ready for Happy Hour!!!! If Roman Shades, pulling a color from the rug, is not on your radar, what about even nice and simple blinds?

Seems to me it's the perfect space for cafe curtains!

If you like the sun coming in and only worry about privacy down low, then cafe curtains are perfect. I have them in my kitchen area, using springrods to hold in place on the inner molding edges.

If sun is an issue, where you face the sunset or sunrise on either side, then top/down, bottom/up shades would work. I have them on the same side of the house as the kitchen, which faces other homes and the street, but also the sunset. I pull them up in the summer when the sun is setting to avoid the heat & sun in my eyes as I sit at the computer. I got them from J C Penney I believe. You need accurate measurements, but they are worth the extra price because they look nice and if neutral, fit all types of decor colors and types.

Yes I don't have huge privacy concerns, the house sits on a hill so the bottom is all I would need in that regard. I haven't Benny in this space in the summer yet though. The wall with the door is south and the window with the plants in west. I do love the sunsets! Do the bottom up shades mount inside the frame because there doesn't seem to be a lot of space there.

I have them in a bay window, and the window frame is right under the ceiling, and they are attached to the ceiling. Not ideal for you. Check for these shades online, there are more updated ones than mine that require smaller framing than I ordered years ago.

why not try something like the pic below, it should look good in your space

I would love to see a decorative valance over an operational rollershade or roman for privacy

I would put bamboo blinds in the window in a wood stain close to your other wood colours, then a valance draped on a Rod placed halfway between top of window and ceiling.Wooden Rod, round finials.

I'd put window film on bottoms of windows only...keeps privacy, allows light and viewing.....keep it simple.

We would suggest plantation shutters 2 1/2'' with a divider rail right where the line in your window separates horizontally. That would look so classic and tasteful! Bring in color and pattern with pillows and accessories. -Jacoby Company

Another reason we suggest shutters is because your moldings are so beautiful. If you do not like shutters, we suggest an inverted pleat roman shade!
