When do should one use high gloss or semi gloss paint?

12 years ago
I am renovating a 1973 ranch home. I've picked out Behr paint original white for the living room, dining room and foyer. Should I add a high gloss or semi gloss paint?
Also, I chose Behr paint white metal for my kitchen walls..do I have an option to use a gloss finish in the kitchen?
