Need help with blank wall

Our living room wall is blank except for a collection of photos we have just put up... Does anyone have any ideas to make this room more exciting?? Really want to leave the photos where they are.

Thank you, I hadnt thought of a colour feature wall..

That group of pictures is way, way, way too small for that wall. Each picture is too small, the group is too small and they are too high.

All the furniture is bunched together tightly, it doesn't create a conversation, break it apart a bit. Like the idea of a feature colour. The other gal is right thou hi get that you're attached - been there:-) --- but that grouping is so small it looks silly (not trying to be rude, just super honest which us what I need when I'm set on something). Would either go with a large rectangular piece of art or mirror (rec cuz the furniture is rounded) or a much larger group of pix, gallery style. Would Aldo update the throw cushions. Those couches are comfy- have one like it - but they're not as pretty as couches with clean lines. A couple of cushions with a modern colour or pattern and a coordinating throw updates things.

You need bigger photos or paintings, the current ones are not proportionate to the wall.

Can you post more pictures of the room?

Your pictures strike me as the size you put on a shelf, not on the wall. You need to find a very large panoramic picture with bright colors in it to go behind the couch.

Painting the whole room or even one or two walls would add some warmth and charm to it. Where you have such dark furniture, I think a pumpkin orange color would look very nice.

You've done a nice job on the picture grouping, but they're not meant for that wall, or over that large furniture. It would look better on a smaller wall with shallower (or no) piece of furniture under it, so a viewer could actually get closer to them and see the details. Maybe a side wall? And they need to be much lower...more at eye level. The furniture needs to be separated, instead of lined up in a row. Please post pictures from other angles so it can be determine where they should go. After that, great wall art and placement will come.

Guideline for you is : when hanging art above a sofa consider one with the width 3/4 of the size of sofa. Plus the art should hang so the bottom of the art/frame is 4 to 6 inches from the height of the sofa. See how we hung the art as an example we did for a client in photo. Same rule apply with love seat.

Hi. As you have dark furniture up against a wall, I would advise you to look at neutral colours only. I think you need a little warmth in there. What do you think of this:

Those pictures are not doing anything for your room. Go big or go home.

Nice arrangement on the wall........and I understand wanting to keep it and work with it. Not sure an accent color would make it larger, though. Is there a way to move the chair beside the couch to another spot so the couch can truly be centered there? Then would you be able to add a narrow ledge shelf under what you have and put another one right below it with another grouping of pics and maybe have this one ON the shelf instead of on the wall. OR can you add to this to make it larger and lower? OR what about buying a big frame that is more the size needed and trying it around this grouping? Then maybe the inside wall of the frame could be played with some???

abbyjean-it is a nice arrangement but not for that wall. It is too small.

I love the couch and the colors and really like the pillows on the couch. If the chair were to move from the corner and you put a large plant there or a floor lamp, that would also add something to the wall so the pics would not just be there alone and pronounced like now.

But could more black frames with white matting be added beside and below? It does not appear like the pics there now have details that need to be seen up close.....they are just kind of there as art and a filler. Add to it somehow?

Looks like a French theme? There must be more art similar that could work???? Maybe try one of the matching pillows on the chair? Add a red throw or a white one to the arm of the couch?

You need larger scale artwork...how about a black frame rectangular mirror in center with say two maybe 12x16 framed artwork on each side one on top of the other...what you have now could be put under or in between the larger photos for some drama

Hi! here are a few suggestion for you for above your couch:

I love the arrangement that you have of the pictures, but it is too small for the space and I would never want your precious pictures to get lost! I would move them to a smaller space, and place a set of wall art above the couch.

Since it looks like you have a Paris theme, I would place the largest wall hanging in the middle and the other two on either sides:

    Hope this helps!

Do you think??? If that is true, it is happening more and more. I looked and there is another thread started by this poster regarding finger prints on cabinets. Hmmm.......

Looks real to me, what makes you think it is a prank?
Hi everyone, thanks so much for all of your feedback. I think I need to let go of the little photos and go for a nice big one..
This is our first home so I am not up with designing rooms.
P.s this is not a prank.. This really is my living room.

Why would someone prank about design problems? I am new to this but prank.. Really?

I hope you have a small wall where this arrangement of pics will still work. It is special to you and needs to be displayed in your home. Hang it lower, but in the same design.

Yes, plenty of free space in our new home.. Thank you for your help.. So much to design!

If you have plenty of space, consider moving the couch and chairs further apart. Notice how they seem so crammed together in that pic you posted? Let the couch sit alone on the big wall with a nice big low piece of art over it. The chairs can be together opposite it maybe??? Try a side table with a lamp on it where the one chair is, and the lamp will fill in the wall some for you, too.

Keep adding to the collage. You can bring in small mirrors or other interesting pieces you have around the house.

I would put small photos on a wall where people can walk up and look at them.

If you're looking for large art over that wall, check out my artwork. I have many large canvas prints that would look good there.

Alyce, don't let go of the photos...they are very good. Lets just find another wall space for them where they can be appreciated closer. Can you give us some more angles of the room?
Thank God that you replied Alyce. People are getting paranoid on here and think that everyone is pranking. Glad that you are willing to make the changes.
