I just finished redoing the floor in my kitchen - replaced some old, gross vinyl with grouted vinyl tile. It looks much better now and I'm thrilled with all my hard work!

The next part of my project will include painting my cabinets and replacing the counters. I am at a loss with my cabinets though. I want to paint them black, but I don't know what to do with the insides.

Originally when they were put in, the cabinets were special ordered as a stained light blue color. Later, a previous owner of the house did a treatment to change them to green. THEN, they were painted white - and not very well painted, either. Now I have to sand down and paint all that to get the new coat of paint. However, that puts me in a very odd situation with regards to the interior of the cabinets. They are still the green color, as the prior owner did not paint the inside when they painted the cabinets white. I also put down shelf contact paper when I initially moved in, which gives yet another hurdle to jump through.

Does anyone have suggestions of the best way to handle painting the inside of my cabinets? Also, what color would do well with the black exterior? I believe commercially painted black cabinets have a light colored wood stain on the interior, which would be slightly hard to achieve with just paint. I don't know if I need to try another idea or aim for that...
