BTW, the items on the wall are sound absorption panels, the room is tall and was a little noisy.

Roll up the rug just for now. Often a rug interferes in your attempt to arrange the furniture.

Try the t v over the mantel with the loveseat facing it/fireplace and the other sofa where it is now, but pull it out from the windows.

If this arrangement works, put the rug back. I see fabric panels on the windows (will also help with sound), a sofa length console table behind the sofa in the window area, two larger table lamps on it.

I would prefer to see a large round coffee table and not those two ottomans.

Hi. If you really wanted to make your living room look special, I advise you to pull out the fireplace and possibly put an electric fire where the TV currently is; then move the TV and place it where the fireplace is currently situated. What do you think of these electric fires:

The mantle is too tall to put the TV above it. So, suggestions on a redo of the fireplace are welcome. The tv would be 7-8 feet in the air with the current setup.

I would turn the sofa to face the fireplace and put the TV to the right of the fireplace. The fireplace looks lonely. So adding some architecture to the wall could make it feel more connected. I would not put the tv where you have it because of glare from the windows. Also putting the sofa in front of the windows blocks your view outside. Put a couple of small lounge chairs in bay window area. Floating the sofa in the room with a console table and lamps will cozy up the space. Good luck!

Putting the TV to the right of the fireplace will seriously unbalance the wall, plus it looks like it won't fit anyway. So redo the fireplace without a mantel and make all your TV connections while you're at it.

I agree with Groveraxle. I would then position the seating area on either side of the fireplace with your rug directly centered on the fireplace. (like CLynch's photo) Next, arrange a seating area at the bay window for reading or relaxing. You could use the chair you already have and add a small table next to it or invest in a chaise lounge or two matching chairs. Colored chairs would be nice to give the room some pop and then add matching colored, printed pillows on the couch. Just an idea. Have fun with it whatever you decide.

You have a lovely area here. I agree completely with Slaggie Architects (above). WORK WITH WHAT YOU HAVE. There appears to be enough room to recess the TV into the space under the stairs, as they suggested. You may have to work around the air vents, but there is already electric there that you could access inside the closet. Your fireplace is fine . . . just beef it up a bit.

HAVE FUN EXPERIMENTING WITH THE ARRANGEMENT. Just be sure to use sliders to protect your flooring. Try pulling things into the room away from the walls. Then you can have fun dressing up all those gorgeous windows! And that doesn't mean you have to spend mega-dollars on full drapes or curtains all the way across. If your blinds do the trick for you, try narrow, stationary fabric panels BETWEEN each window and on each outside edge. This will give you so much bang for your buck . . . color, interest and a finished look. I can't wait to see what you come up with. Keep us updated.

Grover you did it again. Great advice on fireplace. This room is awkward. Don't really see another location for TV, but over firepl. Then either roman shades, 2 shades darker than walls. Area rug 8 x10 in a color print. U have a lot of brown. And matching furn set. Which I always vote against. Add 2 armless chairs in a lighter fabric. Would work better. Choose a accent color. And use in accessories around room. If you want a ottoman get a bigger square one. In a color. No more dark colors. Or go a 36" or 24" not sure of space size coffee table can be glass. Or a light color woven. Z Galleries sells, TJMax for accessories. Once you get roman shades or panels on window, with a bigger area rug. The noise prob will lessen. West Elm sells martini tables in great colors, can be used as end table or between chairs. Garden stools from Pier One would work too. Get away from the dark woods. Reclaimed is good too. Not sure of your budget, but Restoration Hardware carries nice things in Furn. Check out different stores find usual things. Buy if you see something that may work. All stores above have great return policy. In fact don't buy unless you can return. You will be doing that. Might be a good idea because of window size, to get a pro in to do windows. Very hard to do for you over a computer. Pulling furn more into room always a good idea, right now you have some very heavy looking furn all on one end.

On area where TV is now. Built ins painted white and put decor items on it just a few in color. Mix with print.

You've gotten lots of advice here. Take your time, daydream a bit (a lot?) and do it when you have the time, money and inspiration. I always think it's a good idea to work with what you have, especially when/while you have a small budget. You can always switch out pieces with things from other rooms. Is any room ever really "done"? How dull would that be? :) Keep everyone posted.
