Hood layout is drawn on the wall. Also have a raised snack bar area to tile as well. Would the glass mosaics be too much going on? We want to make it more transitional in style as to appeal to buyers. Going to sell and move to a smaller place soon.

Looks like you're using Colonial Gold granite, or something similar. I think the backsplash goes well with the granite. Pull the trigger. Use that backsplash. I think it will look good. Here's what ours looks like.

It looks like in some of the photos you have a granite backsplash installed. I'm not a fan of adding a tiled backsplach on top of a granite backsplash. I realize many people do it, I'm just not a fan of it. In my opinion, it shortens that 18ish inches of space between the counter and cabinets and looks complicated and distracting. Also, if you are selling soon, perhaps you should save the money and not risk installing a backsplash that may not be to the liking of potential buyers. The backsplash tile you picked is attractive, but it has a lot of personality and not everyone wants that. So...I guess, in conclusion, my best advice would be to paint the wall if you already have a granite backsplash installed, or if there is no granite backsplash already, I would pick a simple cream travertine of some sort for a more casual/traditional look or a similarly colored subway styled glass tile for a more transitional/contemporary look. Again, this advice is based on the idea that you will soon be selling.

Of your 2 choices I really don't like the longer tiles unless your kitchen is ultra modern and everything else is plain. They would be the first things I'd pull out if buying a house. The smaller mosaics are better but I think they're going to be too busy in mass. How about a more neutral travertine in the lighter color of your granite with an accent stripe of the smaller mosaics? Just a thought.

Why not go with just one color glass subway tiles, I think then there is no confusion over patterns

I agree with most, you have some great backsplash choices. I prefer the second option because the colors are slightly more subtle.

Both beautiful choices. Do you have a paint color preference? If so, perhaps one of these is more complimentary with your paint preference.

Thank you so much for your thoughts. I took the picture of one of the choices next to the area that has a granite backsplash. I will not be tiling that area of the kitchen it is a bit separated and will be my bar/beverage area.

I'm considering using travertine in a subway pattern. So I'm glad some think that this is a good option.

Go with the travertine. It is neutral and will be a good backdrop for your beautiful granite. It has pretty colors in it and you don't want to compete with that. Let the granite be the star attraction.

I like the simpler travertine option as well. You could consider a small strip of one of the two mosaics you selected in addition to the travertine. It's a simpler look but you still get a bit of the sparkle and zing.

Use the longer bars of tile (2nd picture) be sure it's installed with a smooth trowel otherwise you will see ridges through the class tiles

Both your countertop and backsplash choises are "colorful". I think if you can't change the countertop you should chose a one color backsplash and that color can be the lighter one of your countertop's colors. I totally agree with rocketjack, traverten can be a good choise for your kitchen...

I'm considering this travertine. Not sure if it goes well enough with the counters and cabinetry. Is it coming across pink? It is jinshan bone Monterey amalfi. Tile experts please help. This is the final selection to be made and I am having a heck of a time committing to anything.

To me that travertine does have a pink caste. How about a larger size white or ivory subway tile?

thank you for your thoughts, my husband likes the size of the tiles and the beveled edge, just not sure the color is pleasing enough to look at for a long time. I am trying to go for a more transitional look, my home is more open concept. this will be viewed from the great room.

When I was searching for ours I found many had that pinkish tone, it look me a while to find one I liked and could afford that didn't.

Travertine could work there. There are many different types of travertine just look for one that does not read as pink. Sandi's for example does not read as pink.

I agree with your husband that the honed beveled style is nice. A friend used that style and its beautiful. It is tiny bit dark... I think this crema 1st pix might be a little lighter? But maybe it's just the photo. There's also an ivory 2nd picture.

I am using the same granite, and am looking at the tan color backsplash here....all some color, but some have texture.

The dark grout is very busy. I like it to match and would add some accent in a glass tile, same color family, but darker.

The crema on the left is a marble, the ivory on the right is a travertine. Perhaps check out Home Depot or lowes too for a honed beveled travertine that might be just a shade lighter than your samples.

Is the countertop Colonial Cream? That's what I have and I a thread going hunting for a blacksplash too. Getting travertine samples to consider.

Hello What Should I Do,
I am a fan of clean streamlined looks. I love the granite countertop, now purchase some additional pieces and have them cut into backsplash tiles. Keep them large in size, so you don't loose ceiling height.
