We have just made our attic space a loft open to the dining area below. 40 feet long, 16' over the opening and 24' the rest of the way. The sides are knee-walled and the roof angles up towards the peak, but stops and leaves a 2 foot strip down the middle that will be paneled a light oak or hickory (Sort of a modified Scandinavian feel). Into this will go the can lights down the center from one end to the other. It is a low ceiling, 6'6" on one half 7' on the other. the one side is wired for 4 lights and the other, which can be seen from below, will have 3. The wiring is spaced for 6" cans so the light on the floor will overlap slightly, but I am having second thoughts on the size of them. Any thoughts as to the smaller sizes and the effect we can expect? Also should I put them on a 3-way dimmer on both sides?
