Given the traditional look of the kitchen, I would use a white (or offwhite) subway that pulls the background color of the countertop.

Anyone have examples of Subway tiles that would go well with the kitchen?

I'm loving the look of bodacious tiles or a simple penny round. Take a peep at Ann Sacks. Her stuff is out of this world.

My only question (and suggestion) is why they painted the backsplash gray? Unless you are leaving it that color and going with paint and a short tile backsplash that will all have to be painted over in the event you use a glass tile. Just saying. Also if you can swing it I would pay to get an integrated door front on the Fridge. As it the SS fridge just looks like its sitting there but an integrated door would amp it up a notch. Good Luck.

I am thinking something like Denita's "Beach brown" example. Of course, you'd need to see it in person in your kitchen, in both natural and artificial light. Nice kitchen!

Yes we are very pleased with it. We purchased it through our builder and it was an extra $3,500 over the standard granite. I don't have an exact price per sq. foot.

Congratulations on gorgeous kitchen so far, a kitchen fitter recently suggested I go for glass panels, as they come in so many shades.
Am watching with interest how yours turns out, I imagine many options will look good. :) especially once all your accessories are out.

The dark gray pulls all the life out. Choose a glass, or ceramic with an interesting shape, in one of the lighter colors in your counter. Pale beige or gray, nothing too dark and no smaller than 3x6.
