What are the layers used (in order)? How deep is the gravel?

    the assembly is up to your contractor - usually about 1.5" of sand over compacted gravel and infill between pavers with stone of your choice....in this case crushed granite

    How deep for the gravel? About 4-6"? Planning on DIY without the fireplace.

    no it doesnt need to be that deep a few inches should be fine so long as the base is solid and compact

    We installed approximately 3 to 4 inches of compacted 5/8" minus crushed rock before topdressing with 2 inches of crushed marble chips (colored). The marble chip is held in place by Permaloc CleanLine professional metal edging.

    I have a similar project that I wanted to start this summer. My backyard has a little bit of slope on it. Should I follow that slope installing the concrete block or should I make the adjustments on digging the dirt to make it level?
