Hi! I think if you got a bench for the table instead of chairs on one side that it would make the kitchen seem more open. Here is an option:

The space is "open" it is just that the table looks lonely..too small, nothing else there. I would have all 3 light fixtures be the same, remove the chair from the island. Replace the table with a much larger one (to use up some of the space) try to find something that looks like your island in color/style. Add 6 chairs..maybe parson style or at least 2 should be. Add a large patterned with great colors, rug under the table. It really is a great space.

Are you planning to take down walls in order to 'open' up the kitchen even more as it is?
