As long as that particular storm door is there it doesn't matter what you do to the door. No one can see it. Personally I have trouble seeing past those bare 4 X 4 posts holding up your porch. I am hoping your contractor got snowed out before he could, and he is coming back in March to take those things off the wall and finish detailing the posts. It is not fair to talk about landscaping when your house is under snow, but I think you need something under the shorter windows for balance.

Just my two cents....the front of the house needs some color. I'd paint the front door some bold color and the storm door a contrasting color.

What a nice door. It seems a shame to paint it but I do feel your house needs a pop of color. Pick a fun color, go bold. I would change out the storm door and go with an all glass one as your current one is dated. If that is not in the budget now paint it black. It will be a big improvement once your permanent columns are in. Love the granite capstone under your windows.
