Houzz has a photo of a darling shabby chic dining room. Barnlight, mismatched chairs, scatter rug, etc. Maybe this will get your creative juices flowing.

I picked eight Houzz Shabby Chic inspired rooms. You'll notice the chandeliers are simple but not without a little sparkle! One photo shows a dresser used as a sideboard. Mis-matched plates and platters decorate the walls. Shutters are remade into shelving units, leaned against the wall or hold mirrors. Large clocks are hung on the walls. Metal pitchers are painted a rustic white. Lots of pastel colors are used on the walls and in the accessories.

Sincère i see an accent wall i would suggest go dresse it with a nice wall paper in the same colour palette as the rest of your interior it will add à texture and maybe à centerpantin.as for the lightingfixture something to go with the campagnard style

You could start with the little table in the corner of the dining room. Paint the metal legs a creamy white. Distress it a little if you like to make it look old. I see a high chair so many of these ideas will have to be used up high! Visit flea markets, garage sales and second hand stores to find old plates and other small inexpensive decorative items. Hobby Lobby is a great place to find the perfect baskets and floral stems to put in pitchers or vases. You may be able to find shutters to make into a shelving unit, but I would use one as a shelf hanging on the wall. With a small child you don't want teething on old painted items - think lead paint :( The most important thing about shabby chic is not going overboard. The dusting will drive you crazy! If it is wood or metal - paint it! f it is new -distress it a little! Look on the net for blogs and websites devoted to shabby chic.

I didn't look at all the prices and I didn't look at the size or the amount of light these chandeliers give off, but you can get an idea of what appeals to you. It's not too hard to re-wire an old chandelier (I've done it) and you can buy strings of crystals at Hobby Lobby to give an older chandelier you own look. There are a lot of tutorials on the net. :)

You have a great kitchen! Congratulations on finding your farmhouse! :)
I would put some place mats on the dining table and lighting that will bright up the place. However, the first step is to choose your color pallet. You can also put a painting on the wall where the dining table is, and from there on you can choose the colors you want to emphasize on. Best of luck ;)

A new chandelier is definitely in order! :) Lanterns really speak to the farmhouse style, but if you want something rustic and more on the side of shabby chic, Mason Jars Chandeliers come in all kinds of different styles and you can't get any more "farmhouse" than mason jars!

You have a great start here with natural light and french doors so a shabby chic look would be fun in a farm house setting. Here are a few more lighting, cabinet door knobs, and flooring ideas to consider. Start with these basic pieces and go from there with decor and paint. The colors you suggested would be a nice addition. Have fun!

It doesn't appear that you have a lot of room against the wall in the dining area for a china cabinet, buffet or credenza, but a small corner hutch would create cozy charm and give you a place to put some accents. The wall could be used for some authentic art work. If it is large and rectangular and fills the wall -- that would be dramatic.

Stephanie -- hmmmm. Let me think on that one for a bit! Do you want to go with yellow in your color scheme? If you do, that plays a big roll in picking your counter tops. Have to scoot, but will be back later to see what your answer is. :)

Hmm, great area just waiting for some fun. Firstly I would buy some Ikea chair covers in white, looks great and protects those chairs. The light dimishes the size of the room, and ages it slightly, something more to perhaps, your taste? I would attack those walls with Antique White USA, that little pot plant replaced with a long graceful leaves, in a pure glass vase, and a pure glass bottle filled with green apples, or lemons in the middle of the table. All of this will cost you little, the covers should cost about $80.00 US, and the vases (also from Ikea) should cost no more than $30.00. The paint of course depending on how much you want to use, and once you start to paint..............................................you know what happens! This will cheer you space nicely, and at little cost. Try to keep the area clutter free, (not easy with kids) and it will cheer you no end. The best of happiness in your new home! Hi Stephanie. Well, I've compiled a few examples of counters that would look great with a soft yellow walls, white cabinets and your flooring. But, you're not limited to yellow. With any one of these, you could customize with another color if you choose. Ideas have their beginnings and then evolve with the personal tastes and desires of the homeowner.

A couple more counter top ideas for your consideration. Also posting bench and table idea for your dining area. You could put a free-standing bench against the wall, with a white or rustic table and chairs on the opposite side. Finish it with fabrics or throw pillows of your choice and you've created a warm, cozy and charming way to dine in the kitchen!

How about a pretty oil cloth for the table top, long , cut to size, or inlaid, so you can still see the legs? |Instant shabby chic, practical and inexpensive.
This one seems very popular on ebay.

or some trays inlaid with oilcloth, you can make your own easily. They could hang on the wall as art until you need to use them. Great for the children.

Oh, and Stephanie, I failed to mention a large print on the wall behind the table, (and make it large) with the colors you love, will simply set it off. Have a ball doing up your lovely home.

Love all these great ideas! This is just one of a million possibilities. I just worked off the warmer tones you already have and using as much as possible of what you have. The idea could easily be adapted with different art/colors/etc. Love the idea of a banquette and some corner cabinets to cozy things up. I lengthened the dining table, painted low-contrast cooler grey (blue cast) stripes on the feature wall. You could pull the highchair up to one end of the table until she/he is in a chair. I would put two upholstered chairs on the ends, and two of your existing chairs on the kitchen side for seating for six. You could add one spotlight head on the ceiling track to light any artwork or decor on the wall. Will try to crank out a couple other color options when I get time. BEST OF LUCK!

We would recommend that you take a look at laminate countertop options. The designs have come a long ways from the past years. Take a look at our VT Dimensions line. Chroma Natrix any more ideas would be greatly appreciated! I may need your help with other rooms as well! :)
So welcome! Here's a version with a little of your yellow and green idea. Since your kitchen floor is a warm natural earth color, it would be nice to tie that in somewhere --maybe an old pine table frame stripped and topped with glass to make it less "heavy". If yellow, I'd keep it in the more buttery side than lemon. The bamboo style tole chandelier could be a vintage one from ebay or an antique shop. The rug is Castleberry Area Rug from Home Decorator Collection. The chairs are yours painted white, and the green ones are my little sketches of Eurostyle's Isabella Leather Stacking Side Chair.

What would it look like with the table and chair legs painted white?
I was just going to say exactly the same jesse. I'm just in the process of painting the legs of my kitchen table white (the top is dark). With white painted chairs it makes the area look completely different.

Looking forward to seeing it, we have a lot of nice white legs in the UK....

Nice house Stephanie. Good bones. If you are in the mood to paint, (get your husband up there with the spray gun) I would go for a linseed color, (sandy, not to dark, or it will not go with the roof color) and leave the white to compliment it. They both go with everything. That will really fit into your landscape. Your house is crying out for a garden to soften it, as I am not used to American gardens, but our own rather native gardens here in Australia, I cannot advise on exactly what plants to buy, but the gardeners amongst us will. I would have a nice creeper (with Yellow or white flowers) growing on that side patio/pergola, to soften and protect the house from winds. A couple of really good quality pots placed in positions of interest, should make your house even more attractive, and loved, than it already is.

I would give you some ideas but you've already gotten a lot of great ones. Here are some dining areas with a farm house feel that are charming.

    Definitively. Change the chandelier.

The table looks too small for the room in the Picture

Also i Would put some shelving on the wall beneath the counter Where the fridge is To make the fridge looks more at his place do Like a breakfast or coffee bar or à bar or put a big piece Like a chalkboard

i Would repaint Also a color with less yellow in it.
