I would do a light sheer curtain nice and long let them hang on the floor but just a tad it will add even higher feel to your ceilings to make it feel like a larger space. I am a fan with huge wall mirrors in small spaces or hanging above the couch

Drapes will help to finish the window, without any surrounding trim you need something more. I would not hang them to the ceiling, that is too big of a disconnect between the rod and the window opening, but above the window. See where a 96" drape will hit, that should work well.

I like the idea of sheer with maybe a horizontal pattern....any recommendations on specific ready made ones? Just above the window to the floor is 100", so 96" won't work. I could always take up the hem in 108" if they are too long. I would prefer not to spend a lot. Thank you!

You can always find nice cheap curtains at home goods or even ikea. Pattern would be nice pick up a color out of your rug

Yes I agree don't hang from ceiling hang from window trim to ground. Ikea has awesome long curtains. Sometimes they are o long you have to pin them

DMarie, I like the second set with the dark walls and woodwork. They'd bring a bit of lightness to the room and tie into the white in the rug. I don't think the brown stripe is quite the right color and lattice is so overused.

I really like the Warner Decor suggestion and am trying to figure which color you are suggesting of the available options. Also, would you only go with two panels for the window at 96" height, which is just above the top of the window or would you also get panels for the patio doors to the balcony which would require the 108" option since the the top of the frame of those doors is 100"? Confused but hopeful now.

It is now and was earlier posted that it was going under sofa, table and chairs. I will get an updated photo posted. I did not have the manpower to position it under the furniture when I originally posted.

I like the pattern. Maybe if you can find a blue one to tie in with your rug..I bought my curtains from target solid color with a design at the bottom I love them they have blue ones ill post mine, mine could work in yours too tie in with your yellow walls
