This area appears to be open to another space, so you might wish to consider using whatever accent colour is being used throughout. If this is a new build without a defined palette, a cooler or greyed shade would be nicely offset by the cherry.

@studio10001. Ya I forgot in front of the kitchen is the living room (fully open concept). Living room is cappucino hardwood (dark brown with black grain). Behind kitchen you can see a bit of sunroom: oak floor, light brown. So I think I should match living room

I was looking for other clues, but see you have a blank slate - which brings me back to cool, or greyed shades: both black and white seem very harsh choices. Greige, greyed green or blue, and charcoal will all temper the warm colours that currently exist. If you use a green or blue, be prepared to carry it into the living room as an accent colour.

Have you thought about purchasing a rug to see what colors you like in the room? I think studio1001 was on to something with the grayish green or blue and charcoal. Here are a few options for you:

I think black would look great, just make sure to get durable product. I would recommend a conversion varnish over a paint. Good luck:)

I would listen to the people above and test some colors too. Try them in different lightings to see how the look.
