I suggest a natural rug like jute in ivory tones, a chandelier with candelabra lights and ivory covered tall back chairs! Look for black and white photography of Spanish architecture in all different size and shape frames and cover that back wall- mix in small mirrors to help throw out light during the day. Good luck! I love a rustic look, and your table is a great start as is the tile--both are beautiful.

If you could get a bench in that tone of wood, it would look really cool. You could even get a picnic table bench that you distress, sand down, add another color of stain to since they're usually red, and then add a couple of coats of polyurethane when it's where you want it. You could put cushion on it made out of a linen drop clothe that would look very funky. If you make anything with drop clothes, be sure and wash them first in hot water to soften them up.

I would also put up several nice large colorful pictures in wood frames around the room to give the eye something to focus on. I've bought a lot of very nice posters and prints from allposters.com. They do custom framing, but I have frames I swapped them out with.

Thank you for the ideas! I love the b&w Spanish architecture picture ideas. My style is much more clean/modern than the basic bones that are already in this house so that might give it the touch I'm looking for. Can't wait to tear out that ceiling fan. Seriously, who puts a fan in a dining room!?!

If I would make a wood accent wall (wall with windows), would that be too much if I put a neutral rug & chairs?

My ceiling is pretty low but I'd love to include something interesting there too.

I'm thinking I'm going to try a rug because we have a whole lot of that tile flowing in the kitchen that leads to the dining & I need to break up the space. However, I did get a good laugh on that comment Mark!

They have some amazing stuff....and the best part about the table...the top is reversible! The other side is a more "finished" looking surface.

Love the floor and table! I think you need a heavy iron type chandelier *or rust* for impact. What kind of chairs are you thinking? ( I actually designed and live in a Rustic/Industrial- my fav).

Love love love the table by the way!!! I know you said neutral tones, but I gave you all neutral furniture and accessories from west elm, and added a pop of color to liven the room on the walls. Though it would also look good with a nice taupe color. I also put in our custom made MOD blown glass chandelier that we make. It adds the perfect amount of sparkle!

Benches are great, can squeeze lots of people(KIDS) on them. On the other side soft upholstered chairs for comfort. Need a incredible light fixture. Rugs are a pain under a table ,when scooting chairs around and food droppings.
Get a nice long runner, casual not formal. Set table with thick glassware.
A side board would also be helpful. Maybe paint an old long short, dresser and add a marble top for some elegance.

You have a gorgeous table. Let's make sure the design of the rest of the room does such a fabulous piece justice. First, paint your walls a darker color to add richness. A neutral khaki with a green undertone will make the tile floor and the tabletop really pop. Try Sherwin-Williams Dapper Tan 6144. Add a substantial white crown molding to define the ceiling and have the ceiling faux painting in a metallic gold leaf. Please browse through our project photos for examples of this finish. Add some texture to the space with a simple yet traditional rug. A vintage rug or one with a timeworn effect would be beautiful. Look for host and side chairs with rubbed black legs to relate to the table and that are covered in a great natural fabric. Nail head trim will add interest to the chairs. A clean lined server that reflects the x-shape of the trestle table base will keep the space from going too traditional. We think the idea of Spanish architecture pictures is great. How about doing the images in sepia and the frames in black to add another layer of interest? Switch your drapery panels to a chocolate color instead of red. Finally, add an updated iron chandelier. The iron will pair wonderfully with the table while the more contemporary style will tie in with the photographs and server. Happy decorating!
