Do you have plans of selling, staying, and is it a total remodel or using what's there but changing?

yes, we plan on staying here......and it would have to be using whats here and changing, because we cant afford a big construction job...
seems like there is no way to do this to us! getting frustrated!

12' x 15' is not a bad size. I'd try posting a diagram online here that shows the doors and windows in the existing space...perhaps a photo of the kitchen as well, as would a brief listing of some of the things you don't like about it. You're bound to get some more specific and helpful advice.
Failing that, go to NKBA.ORG, and find a kitchen designer that works in your area and is willing to either do a "flat fee" layout re-design, or a per hour consult (to give you ideas). It's money well spent.

I agree with above, need photos or diagram.
