Help with wet bar ideas!

We're getting ready to remodel our kitchen and I'm thinking we need to update wet bar at same time. Should I keep same layout design or run it on back wall only? I would love upper cabinets but unsure since I have a opening on one side. I'm not sure what the up to date idea would be. Thank for any help I can get.

I like the bar counter to be able to "belly up" to it! Mirrors behind the bar are a bit dated so how about floating shelves? I wouldn't do upper cabinets as you're right it would block the opening and feel a bit tight. I like the staggered look in the below photo, but with the flush edge of the shelves lined up with the left side of the bar.
