Go with a wood floor if you like it--would not paint the cabinets--it is a lot of work and if not done correctly the paint will not hold up, also the oak grain will show thru.

Pyramid has a great point about painting the cabs, but definitely check out our page for wood counter tops, I'm biased but I really like the look of them. We obviously do more reclaimed stuff but wood counter tops like the ones we have are so extremely durable and since they have lived a life on the rails are very durable and rugged but can be quite refined.
