That would depend on the size of the bathroom. Art Nouveau, Art Deco was a wonderful period. Much of it had Korean and Chinese influence. You need to sit with your daughters and see what their impression of the decor of that era is. Many times people mistake this design style as early Hollywood Glam which was another animal.

True Art Nouveau/Deco has some basics. Here are some images to look over. I'm currently redoing my bathroom in Deco so any questions feel free to ask. Also if you can upload an image of the current bath and give us sizes it would help tremendously.

Hopefully we can come up with options that keep hubby happy.

One thing that stands out for me with the art deco style is the use of bold patterns. You could incorporate a deco shower curtain or wall paper and perhaps a couple of deco inspired scones or light fixtures. The rest can be done with accessories. Did they recently see the Great Gatsby by any chance? ;-)

If I knew how to add pictures from other Houzz users, I would include tiles from Redrock Tileworks, their Venue collection. Rejuvenation has art deco lighting. Some of the art deco sconces won't give enough light for applying makeup but they sure are beautiful.
