Patricia, what is the slate laminate? How long have you had it installed? How is scratching? I have used solid vinyl planks in den with good results.

The laminate is Columbia Cascade Clic our color is Mountain Mist. We have had it for 7 years and it honestly doesn't scratch. We have the dogs and grandkids running in and out of the pool all summer, the other thing is it doesn't show the dirt, I just love it. We also have a really cool laminate from Kronotex in our bedroom that looks exactly like carrara marble and the dogs go in there all the time and no scratches there either. I don't think Kronotex USA brings it in but I got that at Home Depot in Canada.I find it funny how a couple of furry animals can really affect how you live, wouldn't trade them for anything.

@Patricia, I like how that looks. Must hide the inevitable swirls of fluff well. We are looking at HW floors in the master, the rest of the living space is tile (Florida home).

A room of their own. In our old house, it was a heated porch. In our "now house", it's the laundry/dog room. I find it useful when one of them is sick, or muddy, or snowy, after baths to dry off, for feeding/water dishes and all their stuff! They know what "go to your room" means, and it's nice to be able to close the door when we have dogophobes over. It's convenient-off the kitchen too.

We have friends who live in Miami Beach they have actual Carrara marble floors, it hides a ton of sins including dog fluff .

Our "disappearing" dog gate is perfect for luxury homes. It can be tucked in the wall when not in use. It is very durable and modern, and doesn't take away from the beautiful interior design you worked so hard on.

It can even be installed in door frames and at the top of stairs!
